Dean to Bush “We Can’t Stay the Course”

DNC Chairman Howard Dean issued a press release tonight that dropped my jaw to the floor. Here’s what stunned me most:

“Democrats stand committed to our troops and their families. Americans deserve the truth and the answers to hard questions when it comes to the decision to go to war. We can no longer stay the course. Our troops and the American people need a comprehensive plan so that success can be achieved in Iraq and our troops can come home safely.”

TRANSLATION: We need to get out of Iraq and we can’t stay the course so that the Iraqi people and their soon-to-be permanent government can succeed. The main thing is to bring our troops home safely, whatever the cost.

What’s most sickening about this is that he couldn’t care less about what’s best for the country and he surely doesn’t care about anything other than his party’s pacifist base.

The next most sickening thing is that he’s still playing politics with the “decision to go to war” issue. He’s playing to his party’s conspiracy theory-crazed base with this talk. It has nothing to do with the truth. It has nothing to do with President Bush enunciating his plan for the umpteenth time. It has everything to do with Gov. Dean playing stupid to the Democrats’ base.

I hope he keeps this stunt up for the next year. If he does, the Dems will get their heads handed to them.

    Great Post!
    These lines are real killers…

“Democrats stand committed to our troops and their families.

Oh yeah? So now the democratic party is pro family? Since when? Mr. Dean- Have you even bothered to talk to the families? Has any polling organization bothered to ask the military families how they feel about the Dems parading around and braying like asses about their loved ones in harm’s way? There is an interesting thread in the discussion about Cindy Sheehan. The overwhelming voice of the military families is. ÿou DON’T speak for us.” Neither do you, Mr. Dean.

We can no longer stay the course.
Ha ha ha. Since when was the Democratic party “on board” in the war against terrorism? 6 months? Until it went out of fashion like a mullet in the 80’s and sent them running toward every freak that would stand with them and say, “Bush lied.”

If we pull out, Mr. Dean, Let’s have the Dems sign a document asserting it was their idea from start to finish. That way when 20,000 Americans die in an Al Qaeda you can take the full force of the people’s wrath.

No- we won’t let it come to that. You see us Conservatives really are the ones who care about the common man. He does not need government run health care- he needs an immunization from the lunacy of liberals like you- Mr. Dean!

    There. I feel better.
