Why Isn’t Iran Afraid of U.N. Sanctions?
In a word; Saddam.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad isn’t quaking in his boots over impending U.N. sanctions that would allow economic sanctions or military action, if necessary, to force Iran to comply with the Security Council’s demand that it cease enrichment.
On Sunday, Ahmadinejad renewed Iran’s threat to withdraw from the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty if the Security Council imposes sanctions on Tehran.
Ahmadinejad told the official Islamic Republic News Agency that Washington and its allies “don’t give us anything and yet they want to impose sanctions on us.” He called the threat of sanctions “meaningless.”
Elham said Monday that Iranians had endured sanctions before. “We’re not concerned” about the prospect of U.N. sanctions, he added.
Wonder why? While Saddam Hussein and Ahmadinejad were not allies, Ahmadinejad certainly learned from the impotence, scandal and corruption of the United Nations in its 12+ years of dealing with Iraq and victimizing those it should have helped throughout the world. The U.N. is a sham, and a perverted one.

Iran isn’t Iraq.
Ahmadinejad is bluffing.
Iran would suffer a lot if we Germans and European would sanction them.

I wasn’t implying Iran was Iraq or vice versa: they are different in that Saddam Hussein tried to hide his ambitions while Mahmoud Ahmadinejad flaunts his openly.
Saddam “bluffed” in saying he didn’t have WMD. Ahmadinejad openly talks proudly about the uranium he is enriching and its a proven fact. There’s no bluffing going on.
Even the U.N. admits Ahmadinejad has uranium and is enriching it.
Iran would suffer, true. I think that’s the point. I think it would be counterproductive since Ahmadinejad has openly said he doesn’t care about sanctions and won’t abide by them. Saddam bluffed about that.

Wooo. Another costly war and more tax cuts to not pay for it, Amy? What are you suggesting? We’re already cutting domestic programs across the board.

Matthew,
To the contrary! I think we should do absolutely NOTHING about Iran, just as libs said we should have done NOTHING about Iraq, and this time see what the consequences are. No preemptive measures whatsoever, and no military action. Sanctions only. Diplomacy only. Israel will be the biggest loser, but who cares about the Jews anyway?
