Walid Phares: NYT Article Hurts America

Appearing this morning on MSNBCNow, Walid Phares, a senior fellow at The Foundation For the Defense of Democracies, said that the NY Times’ running the surveillance story hurt U.S. national security.

His first response was that it isn’t that AQ doesn’t know that they’re being wiretapped. Clearly, they know that, Phares said. What they gained from this article is the knowledge that U.S. citizens can’t be wiretapped without a warrant. Dr. Phares thinks that that’s information that they’ll likely use in the future to their advantage.

Frankly, that’s why it’s imperative that we find out who leaked this to the NYT and prosecute them to the maximum extent of the law. They’re risking our national security simply because they don’t like this President. That’s shameful and it’s got to stop. NOW. I’ll be damned if I’m going to be put at risk because some intelligence officials have a vendetta against our democratically elected President.

That, in my opinion, is the epitome of fascism and it has no place whatsoever in American politics.
