The Best News Of the Day: Tony Blair Plans To Stay On As PM Until 2009
According to this article, Tony Blair plans on being British Prime Minister through 2009!!!
America has no stronger ally than Tony Blair. I suspect that the White House rejoiced when they learned this news. And with good reason. Blair has been the most eloquent, persuasive advocate in the GWOT and for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Mr. Blair also bluntly refuses to step down while 7,000 British troops are still deployed in southern Iraq.
Frankly, I don’t trust Gordon Brown to be a pro-America ally. In fact, I’d trust him as much (as little?) as I trust Jacque Chirac. And I wouldn’t trust Chirac as far as I could throw him if I had two broken arms and a broken back.
After that, security renovations to the house are expected to take at least another 18 months. It indicates Mr. Blair will carry out his original promise to serve a full third term in office, remaining in Downing Street almost three more years.
There you have it. Today’s ray of hope in a gloomy world.

Quite honestly, I view Tony Blair as being something of a politcal opportunist.
After all, he was Bill Clinton’s best friend when he was president as well.

One of the most profound articles I’ve read that really solidified my liking for Blair is from Newsbusters: http://newsbusters.org/node/4707
Particularly this Churchill-esque remark: The easiest line for any politician seeking office in the West today is to attack American policy. A couple of weeks ago as I was addressing young Slovak students, one got up, denouncing US/UK policy in Iraq, fully bought in to the demonisation of the US, utterly oblivious to the fact that without the US and the liberation of his country, he would have been unable to ask such a question, let alone get an answer to it.
