Suspected Terrorists In Lodi: Ties To A Jihadist Network?

The latest report regarding Camp al Lodi.

SacBee reports: “A federal prosecutor hinted Thursday that the defense of a Lodi ice cream truck driver accused of terrorist connections may be subsidized by a “network of terrorists.”

Since we pointed to yesterday’s news regarding concerns over flight risk, it appears there’s more to the story.

In arguing against Umer Hayat’s release on bail pending trial, Assistant U.S. Attorney S. Robert Tice-Raskin said Hayat and his son, Hamid Hayat, “both … appear to have ties to a jihadist network.”

The prosecutor then said there “appears to be third-party support for the Hayats. We do not know the nature of it.

CAMafia has more, and asks a good question: “Why is it that only the SacBee is following this story?”

    I don’t know much about this story, but I do know that when I went to journalism school in the mid-90s, Sacramento Bee was routinely described as the best newspaper in California. So if there’s a story here I’m not surprised they are on it.

    The answer is that Lodi is a suburb of Sacramento, so it’s the Bee’s story.

    Since, bless the FBI, nothing happened, the big play this case got nationally when they first arrested can’t be expected to last.
