Pelosi Touts Global Warming Agenda

I’ve said before that Nancy Pelosi has worse political instincts than Hillary, which she should take as the ultimate insult. Ms. Pelosi is touting global warming again. Global warming is another issue that people don’t care much about. Let’s face facts: the only people that she’ll have supporting her on this are the environmental extremists that litter her party already.

This does nothing but alienate swing voters because, while they agree that the Earth’s climate is changing, they haven’t reached the conclusion that the Earth’s changing climate is changing because of anything man is doing wrong. They certainly don’t believe that we’re wrecking the planet. Check out this hyperbolic Pelosi statement:

“Global warming may be the greatest challenge of our time, setting at risk our economy, environment and national security,” Pelosi, (D-CA), said in a statement, With the new committee, “the House is giving these issues the high visibility they deserve.”

Global warming might be the “greatest challenge our our time”? What type of drugs is this woman using? Whatever they are, they must be great because that’s as delusional a statement I’ve ever heard. The scariest thing about this is that she’s only two heartbeats away from the Oval Office. It’s telling that Ms. Pelosi thinks that global warming, not jihadists, poses the greatest threat to humankind.

The next scariest thing about hearing that statement is that she’s so intent on returning to the ‘mommy issues’ that helped Democrats in the 90’s. The bad news for Democrats is that people understand that the world changed on Sept. 11, 2001. They realize that that date changed the course of the world for a generation or longer. Nobody believes that the so-called ‘mommie issues’ move voters to any measurable extent. Whereas ’soccer moms’ were the most treasured swing voters in the 90’s, the most coveted swing voters now are ’security moms’ and with good reason.

Rep. Joe Barton sizes up the role of the new committee perfectly here:

Rep. Joe Barton, (R-TX), the top Republican on the Energy Committee, disparaged the new panel, saying in a statement that its only purpose was “serving as a platform for some members to grandstand and play to the constituencies that are so insistent that we destroy our economy in the name of political correctness.”

BINGO. EXACTAMUNDO!!! It’s a device used to keep the environmental extremists writing checks for individual candidates and for the DCCC. This committee won’t be taken seriously because it’s about voodoo ’science’. It isn’t based in the slightest on verifiable, repeatable patterns. It’s based mostly on scientists making things up so the grant money keeps flowing.

  2. The funny thing is that NOAA web site say this was the coldest February in 113 years…

  3. There is a great deal of similarity between the media campaign for the “war on global warming” and the media campaign for the war on Iraq.

    Warnings of imminent catastrophe? Check.

    Exaggerations? Check.

    Selective use of facts? Check.

Claims that worst-case scenarios are the only possible outcome? Check.

Arguments that we have to do something right now or it will be too late? Check.

Smearing of dissenters by “true believers”? Check.

There is one difference. The war on Iraq killed thousands and cost billions. The war on global warming will kill millions and cost trillions .

  4. And why aren’t we surpise by that.
That’s been the motus operandi of American socialists hasn’t it?
You can’t just spring things on a relatively educated society. Oh no, you must to create a cisis first.

Nearly every peice of big mommy legislation has to have its raison d’etre; something has become so pestilent, so rotten, so near on the verge of falling into a gothic Faustian hell, (thanks to the previous admninistration of course) that we just have to do something.

Sacramento this year is wringing its hands over the crises of un-neutered pets, smoking at the beach, and of course the impending energy disaster from the continued use of incandescent lightbulbs.

  5. No Tim that is NOT what NOAA said about February’s tempreture you had better learn how to read before posting. If you can’t post correct facts go back to watching “24″ on TV

  6. Drudge linked to an Australian paper that carried this:

“TEN NETWORK’s programmers are baffled. With so much attention on climate change and consumer research indicating viewers were keenly interested in a 2½ hour feast of practical advice on how they might save the planet, Ten’s ratings for the Cool Aid blockbuster on Sunday night were still a disaster.
    ….
“We spent a fortune to get the audience there and it didn’t work. We’ve talked about it quite a lot internally. We’re disappointed.”

Here’s the clip from the NOAA website:

    ..CLEVELAND..
7TH COLDEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD AT 18.8 DEGREES. THE COLDEST FEBRUARY
ON RECORD IS 15.8 DEGREES IN 1875.

So it’s the 7th coldest in 132 years.

  7. “Global warming may be the greatest challenge of our time, setting at risk our economy, environment and national security,” Pelosi, (D-CA),”

Lets solve the economy and Global crap by stopping all trucks that distribute food across our country. Pelosi should run for president on this premise alone.

  8. One of the staples of stupid sayings when I was growing up was “ya cain’t do nothin’ ’bout the weather.” ‘Course, way back then Miz Nancy was jist a toddler an’ couldn’t unnerstan’ what they meant, and apparently she either stopped lissnin or still cain’t unnerstand the saying.

Meantimes, she’s hell-bent on destroyin’ the economy, wreaking havok on the environment, an’ national security only means keepin’ the criminals in our yards, not hers. Anything is o.k. with her as long as she’s got hers an’ us dumb workin’ folk don’t. She’s such a piece of work. Or poop. Up hereabouts in Oregun we got some real doozies for federal offices, but y’all down in Californya got everone whupped with stupidity. I mean, they done dug up the stupid tree an’ beat ‘em all to nothin’ with it, seems like.

  9. Oh Carlos, you clever whit… What I regret is that we liberals are going to have to suffer along with you conservatives as the environment erodes, the weather gets worse, stronger storms, colder winters, warmer summers, droubt, flood. You get the picture. Most would call that a rather negative outlook, but I call it realistic. With conservatives demeaning this important issue, it is hard to believe that we’re going to realise the consequences of our (in)action while there is still time to save the planet. Steven Hawking says that the survival of humanity depands on our ability to significantly emmigrate from the Earth, and I fear he is correct.

Stronger storms and drought at the same time ? You people can not even stay consistent about the effects.

With conservatives demeaning this important issue, it is hard to believe that we’re going to realise the consequences of our (in)action while there is still time to save the planet.

There were people arguing that we had to act now while there is still time to stop Iraq from getting nuclear weapons.

I hoped that people would be more skeptical of scaremongering after what has been happening in Iraq. But I guess too many people are still falling for this next scare.
