Racial Profiling MSM-Style: Terrorists Represent A “Broad Strata”
Making headline news today is the apprehension of 17 significant terrorist suspects in Canada.
No sooner does the media take a second breath, they start spinning the description to put a “politically-correct” slant on the story.
At the press briefing held by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police today, the suspects who appeared in court–all sporting traditional Muslim male beards and requesting Korans — were described as coming from a “broad strata“ of society.
Who’s fooling who? And why?

The roster:
1. Fahim Ahmad, 21, Toronto;
2. Zakaria Amara, 20, Mississauga, Ont.;
3. Asad Ansari, 21, Mississauga;
4. Shareef Abdelhaleen, 30, Mississauga;
5. Qayyum Abdul Jamal, 43, Mississauga;
6. Mohammed Dirie, 22, Kingston, Ont.;
7. Yasim Abdi Mohamed, 24, Kingston;
8. Jahmaal James, 23, Toronto;
9. Amin Mohamed Durrani, 19, Toronto;
10. Steven Vikash Chand alias Abdul Shakur, 25, Toronto;
11. Ahmad Mustafa Ghany, 21, Mississauga;
12. Saad Khalid, 19, of Eclipse Avenue, Mississauga.
Michelle Malkin quips: “Such a diverse lot! A veritable Benetton ad. Can’t think of a similarity among them!”
Indeed, no need for profiling here. And what’s the big deal, anyway? The devil is in the details.
The AP reports:
“Canadian police foiled a homegrown terrorist attack by arresting 17 suspects, apparently inspired by al-Qaida, who obtained three times the amount of an explosive ingredient used in the Oklahoma City bombing, officials said Saturday.
The FBI said the Canadian suspects may have had “limited contact” with two men recently arrested on terrorism charges in Georgia. About 400 regional police and federal agents participated in the arrests Friday and early Saturday.
“These individuals were allegedly intent on committing acts of terrorism against their own country and their own people,” Prime Minister Stephen Harper said in a statement. “As we have said on many occasions, Canada is not immune to the threat of terrorism.”
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrested 12 adult suspects, ages 43 to 19, and five suspects younger than 18 on terrorism charges including plotting attacks with explosives on Canadian targets. The suspects were either citizens or residents of Canada and had trained together, police said.
The group acquired three tons of ammonium nitrate — three times the amount used to blow up the Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995, in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people and injured more than 800, said assistant Royal Canadian Mounted Police commissioner Mike McDonell.
The fertilizer can be mixed with fuel oil or other ingredients to make a bomb.
“This group posed a real and serious threat,” McDonell said. “It had the capacity and intent to carry out these attacks.”
Two words: Evil doers. And so the war on terror continues.

I guess by broad strata they meant class rather then race. It was pretty obvious what race they were from. It usually preception of terrorism is from working class backgrounds.

If the video accounts of the arrests were accurate, race had nothing to do with it, either.
Come on, folks. Can anyone spell “Muslim”?
Why is everyone afraid to say that? Am I the only one foolish enough to connect those dots verbally? I’ll say it again: they were all MUSLIMS!
I’d also venture to guess that the thin thread connecting the Canadians to the two in Georgia had to do with that “illegal” NSA monitoring program, and may have led to this particular cell, directly or indirectly. The ACLU must be having cows over this.
Anyway, one more cell down, Lord knows how many more to go.

Um, don’t you reckon that by ‘broad strata’ they meant age and socio-economic class and not ‘race’ or ‘religion’? Seemed pretty obvious to me.

Yeah, with 90%+ in the 19-25 year range, one @ 30 and the last (listed) @ 43, sure seems to me there’s a “broad spectrum”. Like in kindergarten, there’s a “broad spectrum”, too, from barely five to just six.
And I didn’t notice any rich people there, at least none that was mentioned. That makes for a “broad spectrum”, too. I’ll bet they meant these “folks” were from all different walks of life, like sheep following a leader trying to get them killed (while he watched gleefully from the sidelines), to a farm worker who could get the fertilizer, to an unemployed chemist who knew how to make the bombs, to some unemployed misfit who felt he had been slighted in society, to who knows what else?
Yes, I can see now what a “broad spectrum” it was…
Again I ask, can anyone out there spell “Muslim”? Or “Islamofascist terrorist”?

We’re right there with you, Carlos.

Um…no, Matt. That would require a lot of, um, reading into, like you’re doing with it. Most newspapers aren’t as demanding of their audiences; spoonfeeding spin works better.

And if you will notice, the men who were arrested are already taking a page from the Al Quaeda play book: they are complaining about their treatment, complaining about the jail, and demanding Korans. Obviously, they are just poor, pathetic, persecuted “victims” of the racist, Islamophobic Canadian police. Why on Earth anyone still buys this nonsense is beyong me. Muslims are fighting everyone on the planet on six continents and this is a coincidence?
