Democrat: White House Built ‘Wall’ Around Spy Program
Jay Rocklefeller, (D-WVA), the senator who gained recognition for telling his colleagues that they’d only get to “pull the trigger once”, is now complaining about a “wall the White House has constructed” around their NSA program. Here’s more of the CNN article:
Rockefeller, the senior Democrat on the Senate panel, complained of a “wall that the White House has constructed around the NSA’s warrantless collection of phone calls and e-mails inside the United States.” He asked: “What is unique about this one particular program among all the other sensitive NSA programs that justifies keeping Congress in the dark?”
Senator, you’ve been briefed quite a few times on this program. Didn’t you pay attention to what they were saying? Did you bother asking questions of the people doing the briefings? Or are you again playing politics with national security with another grandstanding stunt? Or are you just too stupid to understand what the NSA program is about?
Some critics call the program illegal, contending it threatens civil liberties and privacy rights.
Considering that this is a highly classified program, how do these idiots know this? Paranoia isn’t the same as knowledge but I guess some of these ‘critics’ (I’d call them whiners myself) have to say something negative if President Bush is involved.
I’m also curious why the Democrats that got briefed didn’t complain to the White House 3-4 years ago if they thought the NSA was breaking the law. No one’s bothered explaining that yet. I’m betting that it’s because they were waiting until they thought they were in position to bring the President down on this issue. I doubt seriously that they think there’s anything illegal happening.
