Democrat Critics In the Wake of the Iraqi Vote: Grasping at Straws
Just as the Democrats like to say the President is never willing to admit mistakes, they are never willing to admit successes.
They look entirely foolish grasping at straws of criticism about Iraq in the wake of extremely successful elections, especially since the Sunnis participated in big numbers with their leader’s blessings.
With the 2006 mid term elections here hanging in the balance, the Dems once again put their political future ahead of America’s.
The real fact is (and we hope they don’t figure it out) is that their future electability drops each time they exhibit this lack of faith. They could regain at least a shred of credibility with main stream America if they came out strongly positive about the results of the elections, and then campaigned on other core issues they believe in.
The Iraqis would not be able to advance this political process if they feared our imminent exit, as clamored for by Democrat leaders. President George W. Bush’s steadfast resolve has given the Iraqis the courage and time to move forward, and stay on the ambitious schedule he set out for them.
Now that the Sunnis have joined the political process, many believe the violence will be reduced. The Saddam loyalists, and Baathist holdouts have to be realizing the future in Iraq will be settled politically, not militarily.
While there are still difficulties ahead, this leaves Zarqawi and Al Qaida the remaining parties favoring violence, and the Democrats harping about a plan that is unfolding right under their growing noses.
