Defiant Conyers Pushes Impeachment
John Conyers has BDS so bad that he isn’t behaving anything like Nancy Pelosi wants. Here’s the message on Conyers’ website:
CONYERS RELEASES REPORT ON MISCONDUCT OF BUSH ADMINISTRATION CONCERNING IRAQ WAR
H. Res. 635, H. Res 636, H. Res 637
Calls for the creation of a Select Committee to make recommendations, if warranted, regarding grounds for possible impeachment
and the censure of President Bush and Vice President Cheney
Here’s a glimpse at his press release:
“In brief, we have found that there is substantial evidence the President, the Vice-President and other high ranking members of the Bush Administration misled Congress and the American people regarding the decision to go to war in Iraq; misstated and manipulated intelligence information regarding the justification for such war; countenanced torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment in Iraq; and permitted inappropriate retaliation against critics of their Administration. There is at least a prima facie case that these actions that federal laws have been violated – from false statements to Congress to retaliating against Administration critics.
In response to the Report, I have already taken several initial steps. First, I have introduced a resolution (H. Res. 635) creating a Select Committee with subpoena authority to investigate the misconduct of the Bush Administration with regard to the Iraq war and report on possible impeachable offenses. In addition, I have introduced Resolutions regarding both President Bush (H. Res. 636) and Vice-President Cheney (H. Res. 637) proposing that they be censured by Congress based on indisputable evidence of unaccounted for misstatements and abuse of power in the public record. There are a number of additional recommendations in the Report that I expect to be taking up in the coming weeks and months.
Does anyone in their right mind think that House Democrats would take seriously their duties of crafting legislation when they’ve got the worst case of BDS known to mankind? They wouldn’t take their consitutitonal responsibilities seriously because they’re totally invested in impeaching the President and Vice President.
Here’s something from Newsmax’ article:
Pelosi spokesman Brendan Daly insisted to the Washington Post on Friday that his boss had “told her caucus members during their weekly closed meeting Wednesday that impeachment is off the table; she is not interested in pursuing it.” Daly also claimed that Conyers “agrees with Pelosi’s thinking” that Democrats would be better off pursuing other issues and forgetting about impeachment.
Brendan Daly can say whatever he likes on this but it doesn’t comport with reality. Conyers is still trotting out the same garbage that’s been discredited by almost every blogger out there.
Mark my words on this: When people see how deranged representatives like Conyers are, they’ll run away from them like the devil was chasing them. Take that to the bank.

Impeaching the president? I’m down wit that.
Impeach the Chimp!

Just wonder if Conyers ever bothered to review the confidential material that was available to him before the war? Congress had access to all sorts of information on Iraq and WMD, but never bothered to go to the security clearance room to read it. Now that is a crime worth investigating!

“Lawmakers are partly to blame for their ignorance. Congress was entitled to view the 92-page NIE about Iraq before the October 2002 vote. But, as The Washington Post reported last year, no more than six senators and a handful of House members read beyond the five-page executive summary.” - Seattle Times

Very good.
Of course, Rep. Conyers never heard of the Robb-Silbermann commission.

Conyers is welcome to push for impeachment, in my opinion. It will pander to the more left-wing of the Democrats, and will likely strengthen resolve of republicans and may cause moderates to rethink voting democrat in November.

Blah blah blah, blah blah. What a bunch of BS! Note that Conyors doesn’t produce any intelligent concrete facts, just sensational “indisputable evidence” which he never actually spells out. Because he can’t. I shouldn’t be surprised that these Democrats are on the level of the National Enquirer, but I suppose because I love my country so much I expect even Democrat politicians to be worthy of the office they serve in. They aren’t. Democrats who lie should be impeached and replaced with Republicans. We’d have a 100% majority in that case.
I don’t know how you could write this without vomiting, Gary. These people are sickos. They have no life outside of trying to nail Bush. That’s their agenda, as Nancy Pelosi said, “To stop him, stop him! We must stop him!” [Pres. Bush] Yeah, that’s the ticket.

BUSH’S CRIMES!
Murdering American’s by putting them in harms way, without a
declaration
of war.
War criminal: the murder of Christians in Bosnia, Muslims in
Afganistan, and children in Iraq.
Stealing money from the Treasury, and giving it to billionaire bankers
without statutory authority from Congress.
Lying to the American people: there is no balanced budget, the
inflation
rate is much larger than admitted by the govt.
Quid pro quos for campaign bribes (IMF, Enron, etc.).
Soliciting, and taking bribes on White House property.
Misappropriation of money: taking money out of the defense budget, and
using it for his illegal banker wars.
Treason: Waging war against the United States (9-11) Not acting in our
national or vital
interests by sending our jobs out of the country (NAFTA, GATT, WTO).
Placing parts of our military under a foreign power (NATO).
Tyranny: using bureaucrats and the fed to damage our competitiveness
in
world trade (high exchange rated, trojan horses like: global warming,
food, air, water problems, etc.).
Sedition: trying to turn our Constitutional Republic into a
Dictatorship,
with his illegal Executive Orders, and allowing bureaucrats to make
laws.
Unconstitutional us of our taxes: by subsidizing the robber barons
(IMF,
World Bank, Export Bank, etc.); while the poor have their Welfare
benefits
taken away, are thrown out of public housing, there jobs being
exported to
foreigners, etc), our infrastructure goes to pot, and our children
have to
learn in schools that are crumbling around them.
Most important of all: the man is a sociopath who uses poor judgement.
He
is a threat to our vital and national interests, and is not fit to
serve in
office.
I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

George,
Let me guess, you’re a hippie?
Your comments are absurd and ridiculous. They are generalizations with no specifics because you’re talking out of your…. nose.
The 1st comment is the most offensive and possibly the most stupid.
Murdering American’s by putting them in harms way, without a
declaration
of war.
2 resolutions that approved military action backed overwhelminingly by Congress. Now, let’s see, my husband spent a year in Iraq, and yes we did lose a few buddies, but not even their families believe that George W. Bush is sneaking into the Rashid district of Baghdad and killing them. They were killed by al-qaeda and terrorists/insurgents. Your sympathy is underwhelming. AND soldiers in Iraq, including my husband, are re-enlisting in droves IN THEATER (that means while in the war zone). Hmm, I guess the military are idiots who don’t know of Bush’s evil plan to “murder” them.
Are you sure you aren’t related to Osama Bin Laden or al-Zarqawi? Cindy Sheehan? I’ve read the same comments on Aljazeera just the other day.
It would be better to jsut be honest and say you hate Bush rather than pretending to come up with fake charges. There’s nothing wrong with disliking a President but in case your mom didn’t teach you, there IS something wrong with lying.

It is not lying if the person does not know it is not true - something which is lost on people like George here.
