The “HuffMobile” At Sierra Club Summit: Getting More Mileage Than They Thought

“Reader Doug, who posts at FreeRepublic.com, sent this photo, which he took while covering the Sierra Club’s national summit in San Francisco last weekend. The handsome, full-size sport utility vehicle pictured above is a Chevy Suburban. It was sent by the anti-SUV environmental puritans of the Sierra Club to pick up fellow, eco-zealot Arianna Huffington, who gave rousing, Bush-bashing, closing remarks at the eco-summit.”
Well, ain’t that somethin’? The Sierra Club in San Francisco, and blatant hypocrisy from Arianna “SUV drivers enable terrorism” Huffington. (PoliticalTeen quips: “Can anyone pull up the definition of irony?”)
Interviewed by Malkin, a spokesman for the Sierra Club confirmed the vehicle as theirs, but blamed an “outside contractor” for the selection.
Asked whether any of the staff at the Sierra Club headquarters owned and drove SUVs, Malkin reports, “He stumbled and said the group didn’t keep track of who drove what. It’s ‘a personal decision,’ he explained. ‘People drive different cars for different reasons.’”
Indeed. Like driving around Arianna Huffington.
What goes unreported is whether or not Cameron Diaz and Gwyneth Paltrow where hiding in the back? Never know.

My only regret is that I couldn’t catch Gore two days earlier. Yep. After he gave his stirring speech, he drove away in a CADILLAC ESCALADE.

The Sierra Club definitely should have sent a bicycle rikshaw to pick up Arianna and her luggage at the airport.
Really, there ARE legitimate uses of large capacity vehicles. And if there is any organization that uses them wisely, it’s the nation’s number one outdoor activity organization - the Sierra Club. They use their large vehicles to take people hiking, rafting, etc. They fill the vehicles with people and gear when they do it. The Suburban they picked Arianna in may well have been the Sierra Club’s designated airport vehicle - with features for handicapped (something the Sierra Club is known for) and airpor parking sticker. It’s amazing the hunger for fresh liberal blood. You suck, neocon scum, but you’ll have to take your fangs elsewhere. The Sierra Club has their ass pretty well coveredon this one. But just like the Swiftboat Vets smear. By the time the undamming truth comes out, you won’t be interested in hearing. Heck, someone thinks they just saw Sean Penn practicing archery somewhere so he has dashed his credibility as a pacifist.

Thanks for your comments. Assuming your premise about the airport shuttle is correct: wouldn’t a group like the Sierra Club, with all its resources and preaching for environmental efficiency, know better than to send an SUV to pick up one person? Especially the Huff Puff.
Doesn’t matter, really.
We’re more concerned about your disclosure regarding Sean Penn’s recreational activities. Does Drudge know? Let’s just hope that Penn is better at archery than he is at rowing..
