China’s Cadaver Cosmetics
Evidently, beauty really is skin deep.
The Guardian UK reports: “A Chinese cosmetics company is using skin harvested from the corpses of executed convicts to develop beauty products for sale in Europe, an investigation by the Guardian has discovered.”
“Agents for the firm have told would-be customers it is developing collagen for lip and wrinkle treatments from skin taken from prisoners after they have been shot. The agents say some of the company’s products have been exported to the UK, and that the use of skin from condemned convicts is “traditional” and nothing to “make such a big fuss about“.
USMC Vet covers the story.
“Yes, China’s cosmetics industry is harvesting (yes, harvesting) the skin of executed prisoners and aborted fetuses for its value in the cosmetic industry.”
Truly. Disgusting.
UPDATE: (9/14)
Mark Tapscott has more.
It will also be interesting to see how the Left side of the Blogosphere reacts, particularly considering how close this latest revelation comes on the heels of disclosure that Yahoo.com provided information used by Chinese authorities to identify dissidents.
Funny thing. Haven’t heard a word yet.
