Real Men (Serve Their Country)
Roderick Evans was 418 lbs. and wanted to join the Army. When the recruiter told him he was too large, he didn’t give up. His love for the military drove him to lose 230 lbs.
But… I thought the military needed to be rescued from the war on terror by peaceniks? I thought Cindy Sheehan had to save the soldiers tricked into service from their ignorant decision? Or…. could it be… that there are men who love our country enough to not only risk their lives for her, but would dare discipline themselves in ways most Americans won’t in order to earn the privilege of serving? Hats off to Roderick Evans.
An irony that shows the futility of the anti-war movement is when peaceniks protest the war outside of my Army post…which is basic training post. The protesters stand outside at the gate while busloads of new VOLUNTEER recruits drive into the Basic Training barracks…
Here’s to the untold heroes like Pat Tillman who join the US Military not for the college money, not for the perks (few as they may be), but for duty, honor, country.
These are some personal experiences with war-protesters, counter protesting and Cindy Sheehan.
