Public Swayed By Bush Speeches
That’s Ralph Hallow’s declaration in today’s Washington Times. Here’s the proof he offers:
A poll of 1,003 adults shows an 18 percentage point surge in the number of Americans who think the Republican president is making progress in democratizing Iraq.
That’s a dramatic swing in public opinion. I attribute the swing to them getting the positive information from President Bush instead of hearing the daily Democratic barrage that “The President doesn’t have a plan” and John Murtha’s claims that the U.S. Army is “broken, worn out” and “living hand to mouth…”
They heard the reality on the ground that bypassed the Agenda Media’s filter. They found out that Democrats hadn’t told them the entire picture but instead cherrypicked information coming from Iraq, exclusively using negative information.
Republican campaign pollster Kellyanne Conway characterizes it this way:
“The turning point appears to have been threefold: the increasing visibility and humility demonstrated by the president, the continuing inability of the Democrats to map out a positive set of policy alternatives…and the images of Iraqis lined up at the polls.”
People could see the long lines at the polling places. They definitely saw alot of the President making his case. And last, but not least, they certainly noticed the Democrats’ negativity, changing from the loyal opposition into the ’sourpuss’ opposition’.
A CNN/Gallup/USA Today survey, taken Friday through Sunday, found that half of the 1003 adults sampled think the Iraq elections will be a big help for the United States in achieving what it set out to do, create a stable, democratic government that poses no threat to its neighbors or to the West.
This is likely the biggest consideration in the minds of the U.S. citizens. I’d have to think that Americans will breath easier with each piece of proof that they see that terrorists are being neutralized.
Don’t look now but it appears that all the Democratic and Agenda Media efforts to paint the President as out of touch, corrupt and various other charges have just gotten nuked. This is proof positive that the President’s bully pulpit changes the political landscape if used effectively. I hope Karl Rove is drilling that into President Bush’s head and telling him to use it more often.
