Pelosi & Murtha in Anti-War Scheme

As we’ve known for awhile, the current Democratic Party is the party of optical illusions, photo-ops, underhanded strategies and little substance. Here’s NewsMax’s article proving that. Howard Fineman deserves credit for this article, too.

Most of the press painted Murtha’s Nov. 17 call for a pullout as a spontaneous burst of conscience, a perception that helped gin-up pressure on the White House. But according to Newsweek’s Howard Fineman, the entire episode had been cooked up by Pelosi and her longtime Pennsylvania pal.
“[Pelosi] was anxious to open a second axis of attack on Iraq, and was aware of [Murtha's] growing antagonism toward the war,” he reported. “The two met and agreed that he would make his case in private to the party conference. After that, on his own, he would introduce a resolution calling for withdrawal of troops from Iraq ‘at the earliest practicable date.’” The scheme, Fineman said, called for “Pelosi and the other liberals [to] keep their distance, while their own Marine charged up the Hill.”

The first telltale sign that a political party is in trouble is when they have to arrange photo ops touting contrived information. That’s what the Murtha eruption essentially was. He touted then a failed policy option and has multiplied that by claiming that the Army was “broken, worn out” and “living hand to mouth.”

The second telltale sign that a political party is in trouble is when their leaders endorse unconditional retreat in the war in Iraq. That’s what Ms. Pelosi did Thursday. It’s irresponsible and unforgiveable for a political leader to endorse losing a war.

The final telltale sign that a political party is in trouble comes when that party’s leadership is split on the major issue of the day. While Ms. Pelosi was endorsing losing the war, her 2nd in command, Minority Whip Steny Hoyer was distancing himself from Ms. Pelosi’s endorsement.

It seems to me that if you’re going to push a risky policy, then the least you can do is have everyone onboard. That they didn’t is proof that this is the second coming of the ‘Not Yet Ready for Primetime Players’.

[...] What the media seems to want to focus solely on are troop deaths and what the Democrats seem to want to focus on is making public announcements about exactly when they think we should pull out, failing to realize that’s exactly what the terrorists are focusing on too, for entirely different reasons. Alright. Good detective-blog work!!! We win Agin!! Great job guys!
Thank You! They just keep on screwing themselves. I don’t know how the heck Murtha could betray the Marines–but–then again Kerry did the same fargin thing as so many other of the top ‘retired’ brass.
