Iraqi Army’s Self-Reliance Assessed
The AP has posted a report on the progress being made by the Iraqi military. Here’s some of the important quotes from the article:
It will take up to two years for the Iraqi army to have the military leadership and supplies it needs to operate on its own, the commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad said yesterday. Maj. Gen. William G. Webster Jr. told Pentagon reporters that the Iraqi security forces are continuing to grow, but their major need is for support systems, such as fuel and replacement parts. “If we’re talking about an army that can pick up and move and go out to the borders to defend the country and be able to sustain operations out in the open for a long period of time, it’s probably going to be a year and a half, two years before that system is mature enough to operate on its own,” Gen. Webster said from Baghdad.
This is hardly a bleak picture that the Agenda Media and Senate ‘experts’ like Slow Joe Biden and Ted Kennedy paint. It’s the exact opposite of the picture that Joe Wilson tried painting on his swing through the Looney Left’s capitol of San Francisco earlier this week. Wilson called for the pulling out of all troops in his best Cindy Sheehan impersonation. Clearly, that would be the dumbest policy imaginable at this point.
I’ve always been skeptical of the ‘Biden Doctrine’ which essentially says “I wanta strong Iraqi military but it should’ve been created overnight.” That isn’t how militaries get built. I’m thankful for President Bush’s steadfastness on this issue and I’m thankful that the heroic forces training the Iraqi military have lent their expertise in training the Iraqi military.

Let’s stop the back-slapping of our military when it comes to the training of the Iraqi military. This is the WRONG thing to do. Why is the U.S. military training Islam loving Terrorists so they can kill Americans in the future? The fact is this war will last forever and it should! Just like the war on drugs. Losing 2,3,4 or 5 Christian U.S. Soldiers a day is worth price if we kill 10 times that many of Iraqi Islamist terrorists every day. The Iraqi savages deserve to die because of 9/11. They don’t deserve to have their military trained by Americans so they can attack us again!
