CNN’s Michael Ware Ridicules McCain, Graham

This is pretty disgusting stuff if it’s true. CNN’s Michael Ware heckled Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham during their visit to Baghdad this weekend:

During a live press conference in Baghdad, Senators McCain and Graham were heckled by CNN reporter Michael Ware. An official at the press conference called Ware’s conduct “outrageous,” saying, “here you have two United States Senators in Baghdad giving first-hand reports while Ware is laughing and mocking their comments. I’ve never witnessed such disrespect. This guy is an activist not a reporter.”

Senators McCain and Graham flew into Iraq and drove into Baghdad, making stops at an open market and a joint Iraq/American military security outpost before appearing at the press conference.

This is not the first time Michael Ware has taken issue with Senator McCain’s comments about early progress in Iraq. Last week, after Senator McCain told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that he needed to catch up on the news coming out of Iraq, Michael Ware responded, saying:

“I don’t know what part of Neverland Senator McCain is talking about when he says we can go strolling in Baghdad.”

Michael Ware has also publicly expressed his views on the war last year in an interview with Bill Maher, saying, “I’ve been given a front-row ticket to watch this slow-motion train wreck … I try to stay as drunk for as long as possible while I’m here … In fact, I’m drinking now.”

First of all, let me say that Mr. Ware’s behavior is disgusting. He deserves to be ridiculed right out of a job. He don’t have any credibility anymore. He’s clearly an advocate who’s only interested in reporting things that fit his worldview.

Ware’s ‘reportage’ also casts doubt on CNN’s objectivity in reporting from the Iraq War. Between Michael Ware’s mocking of the war to Eason Jordan’s accusing the US military of intentionally killing journalists to their admitting that they buried stories about Saddam just to keep their Baghdad bureau open, I’d say that CNN’s international reporting is pretty much worthless.

  1. So, you’re citing a ‘developing’ Drudge report without a link to any actual video so we can judge for ourselves? I’m assuming, then, that you haven’t actually seen the footage yourself. Is this an accurate statement? If you haven’t seen it, on what basis are you judging Ware or CNN? Sound reporting and analysis as usual, Gary.

  3. THIS DOESN’T SURPRISE ME AT ALL THAT THE MSM AND CNN WON’T DO NOTHING. TO THEM IT’S OKAY. WHEN I WAS IN IRAQ WE STOPPED WATCHING CNN EUROPE AND MIDDLE EAST BECAUSE AT LEAST 10 MINS OUT OF EVERY HOUR THEY BASHED THE US. NO WONDER THE IRAQI’S AND ARAB WORLD GET THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT US. LOOK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF OREILLY WOULD HAVE DONE THAT TO MURTHA OR PELOSI. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN DRUMMED OUT OF JOURNALISM.
I WAS WATCHING CSPAN AT THE GYM AND THEY HAD THE SENIOR POLITACAL ANALYST VERNON VERVERS FROM CBS.COM AND HE BASICALL BLAMED BUSH OR THE ADMINSTRATION FOR EVERYTHING FROM KATRINA ON UP. HE ALSO BLAMED MCCAIN FOR GETTING THOSE 6 GIS KILLED EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE KILLED NO WHERE NEAR WERE MCCAIN WAS AT THE TIME.
THIS TYPE OF ACTS FROM THE MSM HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME AND NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IF THEY START THEY CLAIM IMMUNITY BECAUSE THEY ARE A JOURNALIST AND START THREATENING PEOPLE.

    2 quick comments.
    1) As I I think most are aware by now, the Drudge report was totally and complete false. That can be verified because there is a video of the press conference.
    2) Bill O’Reilly is in no sense of the word a journalist. He is an entertainer.

  5. Rosie O Donnell is an entertainer.
Unfortunately, her frothings at the mouth are all too often indistinguishable from “journalists”.

  6. I am hearing something loud and clear. If any one dares to have any view other than the conservative one, they must be shut down. Here’s a reporter in the field (Ware) who has seen so much violence and who can actually give us a realistic day to day report, but only if he doesn’t say anything that goes against a Republican Campaign talking point. People need to see some of Ware’s very detailed reports about what it is like over there. I’m scared for our democracy.

  7. It’s harder and harder to fell anything but pity for the Drudge/Washington Times/Fox News crowd. Time and time again they debase their credibility with false reporting.

  10. Hi Tompoopoo!

I’m glad radical whacko dhimmis hold your view – it assures me there are sane people still left in the world.

  11. This is beyond stupid. You’re citing baseless accusations without the slightest proof and present them as facts. You neither corroborate your claim of Ware’s heckleing nor your indirect claim that Ware was drunk during the Bill Maher Show with anything.
As a matter of fact, you’re not prepared to accept any opinion that’s critical of the Bush government, even if it is supported by facts.

    “Hi Tompoopoo!

These truely are convincing arguments. Two more examples of the right wing’s unpreparedness to even deal with facts and arguments.
