Why Steve Poizner is Not Qualified to be a GOP Nominee
Bob Muholland has to be drooling. Steve Poizner has got some major credibility issues that no endorsement list can fix.
As an Insurance Agent, I want Dr. Phil… not Jackie Speier to be my Insurance Commissioner. John Garamendhi has been hostile to our entire industry and Jackie Speier has been the author of soooo many bad pieces of Insurance Legislation, I can’t count. Poizner wins the primary, Speier wins the election and the Industry gets hosed for another 8 years.
Poizner is the wrong guy. In fact, the Horward Jarvis Taxpayers Association, not known for their aggressive nature did something extraordinary. When Poizner was running for Assembly in 2004… On 10/19/2004 they mailed a letter to every Repulbican voter in the 21st Assembly District and told them that there is no qualified candidate for Assembly! (I have a .pdf file, if you’d like a copy, e-mail me) Due to the closeness of his defeat, you have to wonder if that letter was a deciding factor. The reason - Poizner opposes prop 13. He was supporting an effort to lower the 2/3 requirement for a parcel tax.
Other Poizner Stances:
Opposes the War in Iraq

Opposes the Bush tax cuts

While giving $2,000 to George W. Bush for President, he refused to endorse him for election in 2004.

Richard Clarke was the main attraction at a fundraiser for him.

He took a shot at conservatives in that same article:
When asked about potential pressure on him to toe a right-wing Republican line, he said it wouldn’t work. Threats by the Republican caucus to replace him with a conservative candidate would not influence voters in the 21st district, he said, and his wealth would insulate him from threats to dry up his financial support.
Sounds like he is trying to do the same running against Dr. Phil. Purchasing an office.
It does not stop there:
2001 - $4,000 to John Kerry.
2000 - $10,000(!) to the Gore Recount - I have a copy that I can fax you off of an IRS 8872 form with his name and address on it. I will have to black out the contact info of the other donors on that form that is why I won’t e-mail it to you.
2000 - $1,000 to Gore
2004 - $1,000 to the leftist organization “The Wish List”.
$10,000 to the recount! You’re a Republican Steve, right!?
Would a jury, based on this evidence if it was not previously known, convict Steve Poizner of being a Republican?
With all due respect to those involved, we are nominating a Republican candidate, not a resume or endorsement list.
