When Police Brutality Is Used Against A Soldier, Does The MSM Care?
Maybe. But only if the soldier is fighting for al Qaeda and lands in Guantanamo.
Here’s a story brought to our attention by the wife of Sgt. Mark T. England, a member of the United States Army. England has been in the Army 14 years and has served in Bosnia and recently in Iraq. Here’s the report:
Operation Iraqi Freedom Hero Solider being beaten and tased by 2 officers at Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. while another Las Vegas Metro Police Officer stands back and watches with his hands in his pockets thru glass doors, then laughs and makes a little skip as he makes fun of the Soldier’s fall from the first of THREE tasings with a buddy TSA employee. This Soldier did NOTHING wrong and NO charges were filed against him ~ Watch the ongoing investigation on ABC Las Vegas with Ben Deci reporting or on www.ktnv.com
(Links: The video of the beating. The extended interview)
Does anyone believe this story wouldn’t be splashed across the front pages of major national newspapers and aired on primetime news if Sgt. England weren’t military or white? (What’s worse these days?)
If a man “of color” - better yet, make him an illegal immigrant - had received such a brutal beating and tasing at the hands of police officers, there’s no question the MSM would be doing cartwheels to cover it.
The LV Metro Police. The FBI. They’re inquiring. But the MSM? For the politically-motivated press, as Michelle Malkin recently put it, “it’s not a useful story.”

Update on Sgt. Mark England, my husband, my soldier~
We received some very disturbing news this evening from Las Vegas Metro Police Dept.
Sheriff DOUG GILLESPIE & his Internal Affairs Lieutenant,
LT. MICHAEL DALLEY have informed us in writing (letter copy below) that the officer’s who BEAT, TASED (3 TIMES), LAUGHED AT AND MIMICKED MY SOLDIER, have been completely EXONERATED and Lt. DALLEY went on further to say that what these officers did to my Soldier was QUOTE ‘JUSTIFIED, LAWFUL & PROPER’.
How can these hierarchies of Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. watch the same videos we all have, listen to the same audio we all have, and come to this conclusion.
Please, I am asking you all to please look at these newscast/videos again, listen to the audio (links all posted below) and then read the letter from Sheriff Doug Gillespies’ office and tell us what you think.
I am asking you to please stand with us and not accept this. We need your help to spread the word, please update anything you have helped us write about this with this new information. If you should need any other info, please email me and I will gladly provide it. We will also post this information in our blog area!
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support! Love you guys.
This is a complete outrage. Words cannot describe our disgust with this police dept.

Abuse of power bothers me a great deal so when I see a blatant example, its hard for me not to exercise my First Amendment Right:
Letter to the editor of the Las Vegas Review Journal:
Metropolitan police officers physically attacked National Guard Sergeant Mark England with a nightstick and taser at McCarran International Airport earlier this year. Deputy Chief Kathleen Suey now claims that the officers did nothing wrong and that Sergeant England brought the beating on himself because he used a “loud raised voice and constant profanities.” According to Las Vegas Metro, I suppose we are supposed to understand that exercising our freedom of speech in the United States justifies a severe beating.
Well why not allow our peace officers to beat a man for speaking? After researching Review Journal articles from the last two years, we apparently allow cops to shoot and kill handcuffed, unarmed, children in the back, as in the case of 17-year-old Swuave Lopez in May of 2006.
More recently, a pregnant 24-year-old mother, Denise Glascow, who allegedly wielded a knife was shot by officers. I say allegedly because non-officer witnesses state that she was not carrying a knife. Officers used beanbags and tasers on her, but apparently, their training with such was not as effective as their training with their side arms. Denise and her unborn child died from the bullet wounds.
Judge Dredd is a futuristic comic book figure whose duty is to be a judge, jury, and executioner. Seems some of our officers idolize such behavior. Their bosses sanction it with “paid administrative leaves” and findings that the officers followed “correct department procedures”.
Meanwhile, Iraq War veteran Sergeant England, defender of our freedoms, gets beaten for exercising his First Amendment fundamental right. Sergeant England correctly states that, had he beaten an Iraqi soldier like he was beaten, he would be in Leavenworth Military Prison right now. He hopes that the good that comes from his attack is a change in department policy regarding use of force.
Now, because he continues to exercise his freedom of speech with the media to voice his ire at the thuggery he endured, the police are asking the district attorney to pursue charges against him.
