Treating Symptoms, Ignoring the Cure

The AP’s Kevin Freking has an article that illustrates the intellectual bankruptcy of the current Democratic Party.

Sen. Kerry puts his foot in his mouth by admitting the program’s impact is diminishing because funding has not kept up with rising fuel prices… “It is critical…to avoid a looming but absolutely preventable crisis for millions of American families,” Kerry said.

John, if you’re so worried about “rising fuel prices”, why are you vehemently opposed to windmills in front of your rich friends’ homes and totally opposed to drilling of Florida’s coast and in ANWR for the rich natural gas deposits found there? It seems to me that increasing the supply of product and decreasing the price of heating a home?

John, hasn’t it dawned on you that market economies react quickly to a theory known as ’supply and demand’ or is that too straightforward of a concept for a nuanced man like you to grasp? If it is, let me know so my neice in high school can brief you the subject.

It’s amazing that politicians like Kerry and other moonbats think that they can filibuster bills that would get more energy resources to the consumer but will complain that the predictable consequences of their filibuster has sharply limited the supply of energy. This is the ultimate in “stuck on stupid” policymaking.

HHS released a statement Monday that kept the door open to all funding options. “We are closely monitoring the situation in the context of Katrina recovery,” the agency said. “We will work with the Congress if we determine further amounts are needed.”

I suspect that they’ll pass this additional spending because it’s the moral thing to do. That said, it’ll be interesting to see if Congress passes the bill with accompanying offsets in other programs. Let’s hope they pass the bill and the offsets.
