To Protect & Defend

It seems that the President’s critics have put themselves on the wrong side of another issue simply because they’re Bush-haters. In their latest columns for Jewish World Review, Tony Snow and Paul Greenberg take a couple harsh shots at the Bush administration’s critics. Here’s the opening paragraph of Tony’s column:

Add “domestic spying” to the long list of botched attempts to unseat George W. Bush. The New York Times’ would-be bombshell alleging Nixonian snoopery has detonated in its builders’ faces. The story not only hasn’t shaken Washington, it has restored the president’s standing by reinforcing popular suspicions that he, unlike leading Democrats, takes seriously (a) terrorists’ intentions and (b) the necessity of winning the war.

The reality is that people have noticed for quite some time that the Democrats aren’t serious in defending the country. Their main ‘attack line’ on the issue of homeland security was to argue that we need more first responders. What a loser of a position.

Think of it this way: Would you choose (a) the plan that doesn’t let another 9/11 happen or (b) the plan that says that we’ll have lots of first responders for the inevitable attacks? I’d bet the ranch that nearly 100% of the people would choose option A, wouldn’t you? Option A is the path that the President’s chosen, Option B is the path that Democrats chose. It’s really just that simple.

Here’s the opening paragraph to Mr. Greenberg’s column:

Dana Priest of The Washington Post sounds shocked, shocked!, to discover that George W. Bush ordered a complete remobilization and reinvigoration of the CIA immediately after September 11th:
“The effort President Bush authorized shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, to fight al-Qaida has grown into the largest CIA covert-action program since the height of the Cold War, expanding in size and ambition despite a growing outcry at home and abroad over clandestine tactics…”

It’s amazing to see how ridiculous and short-sighted liberals are. This isn’t rocket science. The President takes his oath of office seriously. He intends to vigorously attack our enemies so that Americans can live without another terrorist attack.

To be blunt, it’s obvious that liberals wouldn’t be this aggressive in the GWOT because they’d likely believe that additional attacks were inevitable so we might as well prepare for them. Is it any wonder why the Democrats’ faux Contract With America doesn’t talk at all about protecting the U.S. from terrorist attacks? They don’t take it seriously.

Until they do, they won’t get near the levers of control in Washington. It’s just that simple.
