Thou Shalt Show No Cross: School Apologizes For A Sign of Faith

Athletes United In Christ - LogoToday’s public schools: guns, teen pregnancy and illiteracy. You’d think they’d be praying for help.

AP reports: “The principal of a public high school apologized to parents for allowing a Christian-themed assembly that featured two pro football players, saying he was misled about what the presentation would cover.”

Principal Emmanuel Caulk got more than he anticipated for when he invited Philadephia Eagles players Tra Thomas and Thomas Tapeh to talk to his students about “values.”

Today, FOXNews’ Todd Connor reported:

It was an assembly to encourage students at Newark High School in Delaware to make the right choices in life. But when two parents complained after the group, Athletes United In Christ, spoke to their sons and daughters, the school immediately apologized.”

Such is the success of America’s anti-religion movement.

With the ongoing assault by atheists such as Michael Newdow and left-wing legal activists like the ACLU, God is the perceived enemy and a faithless society is advanced through litigation.

Reportedly, no students were offended. However, that didn’t stop a couple of parents from having the reaction hoped for by the promoters of atheism — working under the guise of political correctness and by perverting the Establishment Clause.

Principal Caulk was expecting a motivational speech which would address positive themes: “Rigor, relevance and relationships.” And that’s what he got. Unbeknownst to him, however, Tra Thomas is the founder of Athletes United In Christ.

Some parents found that offensive and I apologize for that,” says Caulk. “But I don’t apologize for the message.”

Amen. And good on him.

FOXNews reports that everyone familiar with the speech acknowledge that “Tra didn’t talk about religion.” Yet by merely displaying the group’s logo which includes a cross and the word “Christ,” Thomas has shocked and offended those manipulated to think that way.

For his part, Thomas says that he’s heard similar complaints at other appearances, but insists he’s not preaching to the kids.

While one interviewed parent said the whole issue has been “blown out of proportion,” FOXNews reports:

The Delaware ACLU sees this as another attempt to work religion into the public schools.”

We can only wonder: how much public outcry would we hear if a Buddhist — or Allah willing — an Islamic organization attempted the same type of “enlightening” public school appearance?

How would the pimps of political correctness respond if, given the predicament, parents would express outrage to any teachings of Islam to their “sons and daughters?” They would be decried as racists — and, therefore, wouldn’t have the courage to speak out. Only Christianity is fair game for targeting.

Besides, the activist courts have decided parents don’t have any rights to what their children learn in school — not even when it comes to forcing sex ed on 5-year-olds.

What’s next?

Perhaps the ACLU will single out teachers of Christian faith and forbid them from wearing any cross pendants while in the classroom.

Sound ridiculous?

We hope so, but must be prepared nonetheless.
