Here’s a great illustration of the deterioration of our economy since Democrats took control:
Remember the election in 2006? Thought you might like to read the following:
A little over one year ago:
1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:
1) Consumer confidence plummet;
2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate
(stock and mutual fund losses)
5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Remember, it’s the Congress that makes law, not the President. He has to work with what’s handed to him.
Quote of the Day……..’My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.’ — Barack Obama
Taxes…Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
Taxes under Clinton 1999
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750Taxes under Bush 2008
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax rates.
Several points must be made here:
The last thing families need are tax increases. They’re taxed enough already. Furthermore, we’re paying too much for gas. We need a real energy plan, one that includes drilling in ANWR. If we don’t do that for the short term, then we’ll be subjected to high gas prices.

My goodness, look at all those wealthy people paying their fair share under Clinton.
You left out the amount of taxable social security benefits under Clinton as well. Wouldn’t want to let those greedy retired people off the hook, they need to fork over their tribute to the Tax god as well.

Let’s think about this…How many bills has Bush shot down? Who is against releasing some of the federal reserve? Who is giving tax breaks to the wealth? Who has friends in Big Oil? I don’t think these are hard questions.

No their not, but if Democrats want to raise taxes, let them be honest about it tell us we are all going to get screwed, quit trying to blame the wealthy and play the class warfare card.

Oh, here we go again… drilling in Alaska is not the answer to our energy problems. Maybe if you’d recognize one simple fact (it would take more than a decade, if we started today, for any oil from ANWR to reach the market), it would not solve our energy crisis today. But I agree, we do need a real energy plan, and just as soon as Dick Cheney moves out of the Naval Observatory, we’ll be well on our way to getting one.
The more important fact, however, is that the American People, including the most conservative among us, realize that this argument is fatally flawed. Otherwise, why would Democrats win special elections in three heavily republican districts? Could it be… the truth is winning out over unsubstantiated fear-mongering? One can hope.
But nice try blaming the Democrats! I think we see the republican mantra for the next 6 months… it’s all the Democrats fault that Bush has destroyed the economy, his failed and illegal war has driven the price of gas through the roof (not to mentioned the blood and treasure wasted in Iraq), his monetary policy has left us in the greatest crisis since the Great Depression, and consumer confidence has plummeted. Like the way things are going? Vote McSame! He’ll carry on Bush’s failures to new heights!

We should continue to lower taxes so we can keep can lock ourselves in debt to China.

No, Rocky, it wouldn’t solve our energy crisis today. But it would certainly help 10 years from now, wouldn’t it?
But you Dems — who live and die with “unsubstantiated fear-mongering,” of course — do have trouble with the whole concept of “the future.” Also “planning,” “consequences,” and “independence.”
