Sens. Chafee and DeWine voted to sustain a filibuster on the defense spending bill. Here’s how the AP’s Josef Hebert describes the vote:
The Senate blocked oil drilling in an Alaska wildlife refuge Wednesday, rejecting a measure that had been put into a must-pass defense spending bill in an attempt to garner wider support.
Voting for cloture were Democrats Ben Nelson, Mary Landrieu and Daniel Inouye. Ms. Landrieu voted for cloture because the Defense spending bill also contains $29 billion for Katrina relief while Ben Nelson voted for cloture because he isn’t a moonbat willing to march in lockstep with his party’s excuse for leadership.
