Step Aside And Watch the Food Fight
That’s my advice to anyone who’s watching Democrats self-destruct over filibustering Judge Alito. Here’s some of the delicious details:
“I reject those notions that there ought to somehow be some political calculus about the future…The choice is now,” said Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, the party’s 2004 presidential candidate and a White House hopeful for 2008. He said it was imperative to fight for “those people who count on us to stand up and protect them.”
It’s amazing to think that anyone thinks of Judge Alito as this great threat to life as we know it. Alito just doesn’t inspire fear in most people. Then again, Jean Francois isn’t like many people. Ditto with Teddy ‘the Swimmer’ Kennedy. They see boogeymen where boogeymen don’t exist.
It get’s more incredulous. Here’s another sample:
…Rep. Harold Ford, seeking a Senate seat in Republican-leaning Tennessee, dismissed the filibuster approach openly. “It does not appear that there is any reason to hold up a vote. I hope my colleagues in the Senate will move quickly to bring this process to a dignified end,” he said.
Teddy spoke of some divisions within the Party of No but they’re finding their way into the public’s eyesight. If there’s anything that I’ve learned, it’s that a house (or in this instance Senate) divided can’t withstand much. It’s doomed to fail.
Reid announced he would side with Alito’s critics on Monday, though on Thursday he had made clear his unhappiness with their strategy. “There has been adequate time for people to debate,” he had said Thursday. “I hope this matter will be resolved without too much more talking.”
Those remarks drew a pointed rebuttal from the NAACP and People for The American Way, two organizations that often work closely with Democrats in Congress. “With just two days of debate having passed, this must rank among the shortest debates for a controversial Supreme Court nomination in modern times,” they said in a written statement.
I’d add that it hasn’t been the spirited debate that people have predicted, either. I’ve got to wonder if MoveOn and the Kossacks want a refund after buying the Democratic Party. After all, that’s what they said in insisting on electing ‘Scream’ Dean as DNC Chair.
On a more serious note, I’m wondering if this isn’t putting the Senate Democrats into a funk. It’s apparent that they’re realizing that they don’t own the Senate anymore. It’s only a matter of time until they realize that they don’t own the media like they did 25 years ago. That’s why they can’t get away with their outrageous diatribes anymore.
Those two bits of news should bring a smile to conservatives’ faces. It’s been a long time in coming.
UPDATE:
Michelle Malkin:
Dianne Feinstein reneges. Here’s her announcement on her plans to vote no on cloture for the SCOTUS nomination of Sam Alito.

sKerry and Kennedy are both getting their egos massaged at the delusional Daily Kos. A couple of weeks ago, sKerry started bogging there and wallowing in their adulation. Today, Kennedy also started blogging there. I can’t believe anyone can really take these two nuts seriously, or that they take the moonbats at Kos seriously.

Yeah right! Super richboy John Kerry claims that he speaks for the downtrodden. Hey Johnny, why don’t you take a breather from smoking all that pot while you were blabbing about missions in Cambodia and lying about all of your heroics in Viet Nam. And then you want us to believe the crap about your Purple Hearts and your less than credible Silver Star citations, yeah all three of them just as you posted them on your website.

It’s even more amazing for anyone to think Kerry will stand up and protect them! Protect them from Sam Alito and give them another Ginsburg? Talk about more verbal garbage. But in their defense, Kos is the perfect place for verbal garbage. At least the odor is not passed over the internet. The day odor trannsmits over the internet is the day Kos ceases to exist.

It’s About The 2008 Election Stupid
Now for some more lunacy from the ‘Cry Wolf Whilst Pointing To A Hamster’ department, we have even Senator Ted Kennedy being included in the Daily Kos hall of famous bloggers no doubt somewhere close to an article entitled “Shit Eating Collaborator …
