S.F. Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval: “The U.S. Should Not Have A Military”
***UPDATE: 12/2/06: And, now, S.F. doesn’t… ***
During an interview on this evening’s Hannity & Colmes, discussing the fate of the USS Iowa, Supervisor Sandoval was pressed to answer the question: Should America possess tools of war?
Without hesitation, Sandoval responded:
“The United States should not have a military.”
UPDATE: See the video. Transcript here.
Sean Hannity repeated the question and the answer did not change.
In visible disbelief, Alan Colmes jumped into the conversation and attempted to clarify. He asked Sandoval once again, clearly, and got the same answer. Colmes exclaimed, “That’s absurd!”
To which Sandoval arrogantly quipped: “Welcome to San Francisco.”
Both Hannity and Colmes were utterly incredulous. Colmes then inquired “how America should defend itself” to which Sandoval foolishly retorted:
“You can send cops.”
Does Mayor Newsom know about this? Unbelievable.
Remaining defiant, Sandoval closed his remarks by boasting, “That’s the way a lot of people feel in San Francisco.” Saying it as it were a reason to be proud. Finally, he dribbled off by saying that America will eventually discard its military, “it may take 1,000 years but it’ll happen.”
We’ve got two words for Sup. Sandoval: Fuck you. And we don’t use that language lightly. (In fact, this might be the first time)
And there’s a reason for limiting our words to vulgarity, because he’s not worth much more.
Jerry, you are a joke, an embarrassment and a disgrace to this City. That’s what we think of you.
Our readers will add the rest.

OMG! I didn’t know anyone, EVEN FROM SF, would be that crazy on national TV! It boggles the mind and it makes me wonder how some folks think at all!
I wish we could put all of the folks who don’t want a military in their own little country and watch how long it lasts. Send cops indeed! Sheesh…
February 15th, 2006 at 12:09 am
I see I’m not the only one still picking up their jaw after watching this moron. We must all be diligent in our resolve in this country…if not some idiot like this could end up in the white house!
February 15th, 2006 at 12:45 am
send cops? Oh no,you wont get off so cheaply! Send an ambulance, he needs the sanatorium!
February 15th, 2006 at 12:47 am
That is the first time I have EVER read those words on CaliforniaConservative.org - and you know what? THIS is the one time the F word is the only word that is really appropriate.
I’m gonna cry if we have to send the military into San Francisco if there is, unfortunately, a terrorist attack there. It IS a popular tourist attraction and all, so it’s a tempting target. But the people who live there are doing everything they can to see to it that it happens.
No military? Is he on crack?! What is in the water up there? Crystal meth??

Here’s my modest suggestion:
I’m hoping President Bush will soon announce the following on national TV:
“My fellow Americans, I have some good news and some GREAT news:
First, the good news: the situation in Iraq has stabilized to the point where we can now bring our troops home to receive the honors they so richly deserve.
Now, the GREAT news: once our troops are all home, I will expeditiously order the liberation of San Francisco, Seattle, Ann Arbor, Burlington, Martha’s Vineyard, and all other locales that have fallen under the sway of ruthless, unhinged, tyrannical fanatics.
The solemn duties of my office demand no less.
Good night and may God bless America.”

Growing up in a state north of San Fran (home of the hated Giants, no less!), many of us dreamed of the day of the great earthquake that sends California into the ocean.
Well, I’m grown up now and don’t see much chance of that happening. But seeing the Bay area get swallowed by a giant 300′ tsunami? and sinking 75′ at the same time? Well, one can dream, can’t one? And in that dream, Hollyweird is a part of the Bay area, too.
February 16th, 2006 at 8:19 am
San Francisco was my home for nearly 10 years, but I hesitate to claim any connection with that city now. In answer to SF’s citizen’s hatred of all things American, how about hitting SF where it hurts? San Francisco’s main source of income is from tourist dollars, so why should the hated Americans continue to pour their dollars into this place? Boycott San Francisco. It’s a beautiful place, but there are other beautiful places to visit.

I am an unabashed liberal who has resided in San Francisco for over four decades. Upon listening to Sandoval’s comments I too was embarrased and ashamed by his comments and demeanor. The USS Iowa is both a symbol of peace and aggression. And while I too would not want it moored in San Francisco’s bay, for Sandavol to comment as he did was inappropriate and an embarrasment. I apologize to those bloggers above who would apparently welcome a replica of the atomic bomb in their civic plaza, but we do not want it here in San Francisco. If are criteria in invading Iraq was that they were a threat to democracy, then I have to wonder how many nations in the world we should be invading at this time because they have an oppresive government, might possibly be developing WMD or would if they could. Finally, I am happy to report that Mr. Sandavol is not my Supervisor. We have 11 districts in S.F., and he is obviously not speaking for me or hundreds of thousands of other “Frisco” residents.

I am a 4th generation San Franciscan married to a 5th generation San Franciscan.
We moved out of the Citybecauseof “KOOKS” like Sandoval. I have much stronger four letter words in mind but I’m afraid a lady might read this. I agree with the person who said the “F” word is the only proper term to use for Geraldo Sandoval Where is Dan White when we really need him?

Gerardo Sandoval, Leftist Loon
Perhaps I should start a series on lunatic loons of the Left. San Francisco supervisor Sandoval belongs on the list. He is the guy who recently claimed that the U.S. does not need a military. Read about him
February 23rd, 2006 at 7:03 pm
Willie Brown was on O’Reilly last night (and they re-ran Sandoval’s rant again) and he commented that the supervisor in Highlands (where they have voted to boycott S.F.)should keep his five thousand bucks and stay home. Sandoval trained under Willie and with comments like that, there is no wonder why he sounds like a moron. Perhaps the folks should spend their five grand in the town of Highlands from now on? Willie would not give a crap because he got his and does not care about SF any longer. Perhaps some old gunner’s mate ought to load up one of the Iowa’s sixteen inch gun and, well, you know. The Iowa ought to be front and center at Fisherman’s Wharf.
February 23rd, 2006 at 8:11 pm
Don’t get us started on Willie Brown. He’s everything that people like about the other Slick Willie: a salesman-like showman with rhetorical flare, but also a dirty, cheating, narcisstic, scumbag.
“He got his,” indeed. And now he can mouth off all he wants. Disgraceful. In San Francisco, those that hold “public office” could care the least about the public. And therein lies the problem. Six gun salute, Steve.
