I hate invoking the dreaded “U” word, but I hope the police union rakes the city over the coals on this. Just utterly destroy the mayor seeking reparations for unjustified suspension and harrasment.

This is also sad because I had heard that Fong was a decent chief. Oh well, I guess its good that SF is so peaceful they can afford to gut the PD. Whatever it takes to stop those jackbooted cops from maintaining morale and establishing any kind of esprit de corp.

Newsom and Fong should be dumped by SF citizens straight away, for their own safety. If these officials overreact for PR’s sake at something so benign, how can they possibly take charge in a crisis?

I’d trust my security to on-the-ground cops any day over a couple of PC flakes taking spin advice.

Watching the reaction from the puppet mayor Newsom and that token (emmaciated) police chief Fong made me nauseous. I watched part of those videos and I found them to be rather funny. It’s no worse then what one might see on Fox TV’s MadTV. They were intended for a private party and those two bafoons have no right to suspend 20 cops from one of the most difficult districts in San Francisco.

The Bay Area lost its sense of humor a long time ago. Right around 1990 things got so bad there that after being there for only 3 year I had to leave. You couldn’t even get a cup of coffee without running into getting a dose of attitude from some freaky lefty.

Newsom and Fong need to get a grip and stop posing in front of cameras. It’s the real cops that are doing the job. So leave them alone.

If this is all Newsom has to worry about, he’s got a cushy job. Or he’s the wrong man for that job.

The videos were amateurish but amusing, and show a bunch of cops who’ve got a sense of humor about themselves. Contrast that with the portentious, pompous press-conference pronouncements of Newsom and Fong. They look like a junior high principal and vice principal who — after dragging the whole school into an assembly — warn the kids that they’re going to stop at nothing to find out which student changed “Board Of Education” to “Bored Of Education” on somebody’s office door.

OK, I watched the video. The intro, with Newsom and Fong being so earnest and outraged, seems appropriate to a press conference announcing that rogue cops have been feeding suspects into plastic shredders.
Then we get to the atrocities themselves. Hello? What I see is a bunch of cops making fun of themselves and of teevee shows. What’s to be outraged about?
Is it now safe to conclude that Gavin Newsom is, in clinical terms, stark staring bonkers?
