Rolling Thunder Joins Gathering of Eagles
When Jane Fonda and Cindy Sheehan show up at the Vietnam War Memorial, they will be met by the Gathering of Eagles veterans group and the Rolling Thunder veterans group.
Riley believes Fonda-Sheehan group plans to target the Wall during the March demonstration. National Park police have said they will arrest any person who makes such an attempt. Rolling Thunder, the national organization of motorcycle-riding veterans who gather in Washington every year on Memorial Day, has agreed to form a barrier between the protesters and the monument.
—————
Veterans of several wars, their friends and other Americans will protect the iconic monument and show their support for troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, said U.S. Army Col. Harry Riley, an organizer of the national counter-protest Gathering of Eagles.
Here’s some more information on rallies supporting the troops:
A smaller number of veterans will add moral support by staging a 24-hour vigil at Kinston’s (N.C.) version of the Wall in Neuseway Park. “Those who cannot go to Washington can show their support for the vets at our memorial here,” said Vietnam veteran Eric Cantu. “We will show our support for the troops in Iraq.”
Simply put, now is the time that pro-victory Americans stand their ground and send a message to these protesters and to the terrorists that we’ve got the will to win. It’s time that we told the defeatists that pursuing unilateral defeatist options isn’t an option. It’s time that we told America’s enemies that they will be defeated.
Most importantly, it’s time we sent a message to the Fonda-Sheehan brigade that their protests won’t bring the results they want.

“Well, we can see the Reich wing nut jobs are on the prowl. You are spouting more ridiculous spin concerning anti-war activist gathering at the Vietnam Memorial. They have NO intention of desecrating it in any way. BUT, it appears that you people think that you can block the citizens of the United States of America from the wall. Just another reminder of how blinded some have become in following a psychotic leader into oblivion. You don’t support these brave men and woman fighting in Iraq and elsewhere around the world…you send them to slaughter for oil and stand there and claim patriotism. You are the ones that could save them if you put forth even an ounce of effort. Of course you refuse to do that as you plan physical violence against peacefully organized Americans. I call this premeditated aggression.” Denise Bensusan

Commenter number one can put her words where the sun don’t shine. I might remind this ignorant ass that citizens of the United States of America will be there to block their treasonous acts. Pardon me for being so intolerant but I am sick to death of these idiots. Do you know of any counter protests in California? I’ve been searching and not finding anything.

Maybe that should tell you something.

What should it tell me, Zach? One inference could be that most of us who don’t agree with you are a little too tired to demonstrate - we work.

Here again another ass who will complain that we are at war for oil - hmmm biotch so when do you plan on giving up your SUV and warm home if you are so concerned that war is happening because of oil? oh yeah and what were you sleeping on and since 9/11? Or did you forget that it happened because your leftist brigade brain washed you into believing that this war was about oil and not the fact that it was because REAL AMERICANS WERE KILLED ON AMERICAN SOIL BY MUSLIM EXTREMIST TERRORISTS?!!!! Who by the way dont control the oil overseas…..

I’m a seventy-year old grandmother who flew from Minnesota to DC to take part in the “Peace!-Out of Iraq!-No War in Iran!-Impeach Bush!” MARCH ON THE PENTAGON. Saturday morning we met at the park across from the Lincoln Memorial. I took a few pictures with my digital camera. I went up close to a group of three men on our side of the street, engaged in a heated discussion, I walked away and stood, looking through the digital pictures I had taken, Suddenly, without warning, I went flying and landed on my backside. With shock, I tried to understand why I was now lying on my back on the sidewalk. I knew that I had been deliberately and skillfully hit, sending me, crashing back on my tailbone. No one said “excuse me.” No one took responsibility. “That was no accident,” I said as I struggled to my feet. My tail bone throbbed. Besides pain, I felt embarrassment and anger. I tried to laugh. “I did NOT just fall down here,” I announced. “I was pushed down.” I was reminded of the 102-year-old lady in New York who was punched around by the cowardly thug near the door of her building who then went away and battered another 86 year-old. Remember when young men helped older people cross the street? Now they knock them down at peace marches. Across the street, people were calling our peace marchers cowards. “Win the war or lose to jihad!” They shouted dreadful things. They chanted obscenities. A line of men in leather motorcycle jackets lined the fence across the street; the same ones that had previously been weaving through our peace marchers, obviously looking for trouble. (Later, we read in the Washington Post, many of the people, protesting our peace march were part of a group called Gathering Eagles. They had been told on the internet to come to the march and “prevent the marchers from defacing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.” ) That was a vicious rumor, not on anyone’s agenda. Our group marched onto Constitution Avenue and over the Potomac to the Pentagon. I joined the chanting of our people in rhythm with the drums, “this is what democracy looks like. This is what democracy looks like.” When I was home and put my pictures on my computer. Guess what! The guys on my camera arguing with a peace demonstrator had Gathering Angels armbands tucked with American flags. I guess I wasn’t supposed to take a picture of those brave souls protecting stone monuments and knocking down Old Ladies. Come on people, wake up and open your eyes, ears and brains! Don’t buy information given out by one web site or one news station. Check them all! Don’t take this any more! Our people are getting killed and mangled for our large military-industrial corporations like Halliburton, Lockheed Martin, Boeing Company. And you are abusing your own rights and mine! To this concerned grandmother from Minnesota, the words were right and the moment was true! I’m glad I went. I’ll go again and again and again. You didn’t stop me with your nastiness. You got me going!
