Not Worth A Damn: The Dick Durbin “Apology”
Senator Durbin’s press release:
‘More than 1700 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq and our country’s standing in the world community has been badly damaged by the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. My statement in the Senate was critical of the policies of this Administration which add to the risk our soldiers face.”“I will continue to speak out when I disagree with this Administration.”
“I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support.”
If liberals are soooo concerned about America’s “standing in the world community,” protecting our nation’s “image,” and mitigating the “perception of wrongdoing” in Gitmo and across our entire Armed Forces, then WHY would they keep drawing negative publicity by distorting and sensationalizing the very issues that inflame our critics and comfort our enemies?
Partisans, like Durbin, are purposefully misrepresenting our activities (e.g. accusations of “Gulag,” “Nazi,” etc) to promote a destructive campaign against President Bush and the administration, regardless of the consequences; creating more extensive damage to our country’s reputation.
It’s politics at all costs. It’s disgusting.

I find the majority of Republicans (mostly neo-cons) to be very unfamiliar with history and most definitely ignorant of the constitution of the united states.
Any comment critizing Dick Durbin is positively un-American.
A shame more of this administration is so lacking in family values.

On June 14th, Senator Durbin referenced an FBI report to justify his remarks that the men at Gitmo were like Nazis and the facility itself was like a soviet Gulag. I have written an online petition demanding he release all information as to wrongdoing at Gitmo. I have also called his office, the FBI, and the DoD to track down this report. You can read all about at:
Follow the investigation into the evidence Durbin referenced.
You can also sign the petition at:
