New PR Director at S.F. 49ers

49ers - HelmetIt didn’t take long to find a qualified replacement. But for those who don’t remember the Kirk Reynold’s controversy, this news might be a reminder.

Business Times reports: “The San Francisco 49ers made Aaron Salkin director of public relations on Monday.”

Salkin was director of football communications for the Atlanta Falcons for six years. He was assistant director of PR for the New York Giants for five seasons and then became that team’s director of media relations. He started his career as an intern for the New England Patriots.

During his career, Salkin worked at three NFC championship games and nine Super Bowls.

Kirk Reynolds, the 49ers’ last PR director, was fired in June after a video he made to teach players how to deal with the media became public. The video contained pornography and racist jokes.

Congratulations to Salkin. However, let’s keep the record straight for Reynolds: The famous training video did not contain “pornography” (less skin than on most TV shows) or “racist jokes.” That remains a false description established by “senstivity” activists and perpetuated by the media.

The firing of Kirk Reynolds was political, and nothing more.
