“The president knows that because the troops are in harm’s way, that we won’t cut off the resources. That’s why he’s moving so quickly to put them in harm’s way,” [Nancy] Pelosi said on ABC’s Good Morning America.

There’s dirty politics. There’s mud-slinging. There’s scorched earth.

And then there’s Nancy Pelosi.

For the Madamned Speaker to say, on national television, that our President is intentionally putting our troops “in harm’s way” is beyond the pale. She has stooped to a new low, and remains shameless.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday that the conflict there “is not an obligation of the American people in perpetuity.” Pelosi said Bush “has dug a hole so deep he can’t even see the light on this. It’s a tragedy. It’s a stark blunder.”

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Dick Durbin and other Democrats alike are playing with foreign policy, national security and, most importantly, our soldiers’ lives as if they were pawns in a cheap game of political chess.

Democrats won the recent election and have taken over Congress. But their victory is evermore bittersweet because they are doing nothing to help America succeed in the battle for civilization.

Islamic terrorism threatens not just the U.S., but the rest of the world. “Peace through strength” has been, and remains, the only policy that works.

Daily, the world hears news of Iran’s continued progress towards nuclear build-up. We read about their Holocaust denial. We see their nation’s president openly call for the destruction of Israel.

There’s nothing hidden. There are no tea leaves to be read.

If left without constraint, Iran will achieve its goals of becoming a nuclear “super power,” thus establishing itself as the greatest terrorist state in the Middle East, and it will threaten the entire world.

American military presence remains in Iraq for a good reason: to work towards stability. Everyone in Congress knows this, but the “war critics” (read: all Democrats against President Bush) pretend otherwise at the expense of our foreign policy.

If we pull out our troops now, what will we do when Iran attacks? Or others who feel emboldened by U.S. “retreat,” which exactly as it shall be portrayed by our enemies.

If history is a lesson, let us look to World War II: Germany and Japan. It’s obvious what needs to be done.

We must remain resolute to succeed in the Middle East, or be prepared for a conflict and loss of life that shall be greater by many magnitudes.
