Muslim Activists and Campus Liberals Agree: Free Speech Has Limits
First, Muslim cartoons. Now, South Park.*
There really is nothing sacred.
If nothing else, the swelling global controversy over those Danish cartoons has exposed a critical point on which too many Western liberals agree with Islamic extremists calling for suppression of such journalism.
“‘People have every right to give an opinion on something,’ Rachel Lawton, executive director of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, said. ‘You cross the line when you threaten, intimidate or harass, and that is when free speech is limited.’
“CAIR board member Mazhar Rishi agreed. ‘The right to free speech is not absolute,’ Rishi said. ‘It does not give a right to defame Prophet Muhammad or any other’ religious figure.”
Of course, it’s a slippery slope. Some might even say that our blogging threatens certain people — most notably, mentally- disturbed liberals. Can’t please everyone.

Where were these people when “Piss Christ” was around? Or any of the hundreds of Anti-Semetic comics were posted? Honestly this stuff is just plain crazy!

In what way does the printing of the cartoons “threaten, intimidate, or harass”
Not guilty on all three counts. God I wish these people would actually listen to the words that they’re saying.
