After months of irrelevancy and failure to capitalize on the national exploitation of Cindy Sheehan, Michael Moore has reemerged from his dark propaganda laboratory with a new formula of blame for President Bush.
Vacation is Over: An open letter from Michael Moore to George W. Bush
Here’s what Michael Moore forgot to mention (or perhaps it was as intentional as the lies in his farce of a “documentary” Fahrenheit 9-11 and Bowling for Columbine) :
– Democratic Gov. Kathleen Blanco insisted on maintaining control of operations in Louisiana despite the President’s offer to intervene. She and May Ray Nagin fouled things up so badly in New Orleans that many people died who didn’t need to. It wasn’t until the debacle continued for several days and the ineptitude of Blanco and Nagin was duly noted that Bush ordered US troops to the area to assist, despite the Governor’s insistence that she handle the crisis.
– There are PLENTY of National Guard and Reservists stateside. It is squarely the fault of the LA Governor and Mayor of New Orleans that help was stagnant in Louisiana and their inability to organize and execute the mission. The Governor is responsible for calling in the Guards and Reserves.
– The Louisiana Army Corps of Engineers is a state organization, not a federal one. Pres. Bush cannot reduce the numbers of the Corps. Blame Democratic Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco and Mayor Ray Nagin if you have to blame a politician. It is the responsibility of each state to protect and plan for it’s own citizens.
– Whatever spread sheet Michael Moore was looking at (let’s be real, he doesn’t research his information any more than Cindy Sheehan), he didn’t mention that whatever “reduction in budget” for the Army Corps of Engineers is no reduction at all. As the US Army undergoes transformation, large numbers of soldier jobs are being converted into civilian jobs. Same jobs exist, but the employees aren’t wearing BDUs.
– The National Guard exists to provide a “reserve” force for military purposes. While they are called up to assist in natural disasters, as are regular military, their primary function is to train and act as real military soldiers, not clean up crews.
– George W. Bush is no more responsible for global warming than China, who by the way is oddly exempted from signing the Kyoto treaty.
If anyone should be blamed for the devastation it should be those in this order: Hurricane Katrina. Dem. Governor Kathleen Blanco. Mayor Ray Nagin. The thugs. Those who refused to leave. If one wants to blame big government for its ineffectuality, blame the Democrats for their creation of it. If one wants to blame poverty and racial discrimination for the inability of many to flee, blame the liberal politicians who enable minority poverty through supporting multiple and repeated out of wedlock births and growing welfare rolls. It was nature that caused the devastation and liberal Democratic policies that hurt the people in its wake.
Michael Moore, educate yourself.
