Meltdown In “The Chocolate City”: National Guard Called In To Patrol

National Guard in NOLA

“What I find interesting is the total silence of civil liberties Chicken Littles who would be screaming ‘police state!’ if Nagin were white and he and Blanco were Republicans sending convoys of armed military police officers into any other city in the country.

Just saying.”

Michelle Malkin nails it.

AP reports: “Acting at the mayor’s request, Gov. Kathleen Blanco said Monday she would send National Guard troops and state police to patrol the streets of New Orleans after a bloody weekend in which six people were killed.”

“The situation is urgent,” Blanco said. “Things like this should never happen, and I am going to do all I can to stop it.”

That’s right. Don’t want a repeat performance.

Now, I may be wrong but if my son just died or should I say had been murdered. Having him immortalized on a T - shirt is not one of the first things I would do. But that’s me. It does make for better copy.

I really wonder what’s going on in this state, then I wonder what’s going on in this country and all I can say. Welcome to the Twiligt Zone.

I do not live in the New Orleans area but I am from Louisiana, and what I have been told that the elections were about the lesser of two evils. Which is not a good choice, ever. A nut case, which let’s ya know he is not all right, and occassionally apologizes for being human and jumping the gun when he puts his foot in his mouth over and over again or Landrieu. Whose sister is a Senator (who voted for Amnesty), whose father was the last white chocolate mayor and Mr. Landrieu who is currently the Lt. Governor. I must say the majority of us are gluntants for punishment.

F-5 Strength Hurricane the likes of which the United States has never seen before faces Louisana? Don’t call the National Guard.

Your A-Typical Drive-By Shooting smokes five people… Time to call the National Guard!

    Got it.

Oh wait, Blanco did call the President. But I guess she thought she was ordering pizza ’cause she asked for “the works.”

    Nice…

  5. Michael Ejercito Says:

I can understand why Mayor Nagin asked the governor to deploy the National Guard.

The Louisiana National Guard does not have the track record of robbing restaurants and ordering contract killings as the New Orleans Police Department has.

We are seeing the result of encouraging the underclass the return to N.O. The underclass is usually unemployed, usually in trouble with the law, usually broke, and usually unsocialized. Their return to N.O. is the last thing the city needs. Now we will start to see the crime, the drugs, the murders, and the dysfunction that plagued the city before Katrina. Since they are going to tear down 5000 units of public housing, there will be nowhere for the underclass to live. Rents are higher than before. Public housing is very scarce. Oddly, the mostly illegal Hispanic workforce currently clearing the debris from the city has no problem finding somewhere to sleep and somewhere to work. Why can’t the black underclass find work? Do you really need to guess? These people didn’t work before Katrina, don’t work now, and will not work no matter how much “job training” you give them. These are the parasites that are being encouraged to return. It’s the last thing New Orleans needs.

    Scott in CA,

Of course the “underclass” is going back to NOLA. At least the ones that went to Texas are. And they are doing so on their own accord. For example Greyhound has added buses going from Houston to Baton Rouge due to the demand.

Want to know why there is such a demand?

Because they are discovering some harsh facts of life in Texas.

    1. The people of Texas take a very dim view to criminals. Unlike Louisiana and NOLA you do a crime here you will be prosecuted. The criminals from NOLA seem to be very surprised that they end up in jail for things that the NOLA cops would look the other way on.

They are also discovering that they can not bribe the cops here like they could in NOLA.

And the big thing they are discovering is that in Texas you have the right to defend yourself and your property with the use of deadly force.

Criminals are cowards so the criminals are going back to the Big Easy where life was indeed “Easy” for them.

    2. The people who have viewed receiving welfare as their life long profession are beginning to realise that in Texas they will not get paid for decaded to sit on their a** and watch TV. They are actually expected to find a job, or expected to attend training to enable them to get a job and then get one.

The state of Texas also does not reward women who spit out kids like a pez machine, either. Some of these women have 5, 6, 7 kids all by different fathers.

Needless to say they are not happy with these prospects so they will be leaving soon just as soon as the FEMA money runs out. Some are leaving early in order to make sure they secure what public housing is available in Louisiana and get back on the welfare rolls there.

They are also finding out that life in Texas is not as easy as it was in the “Big Easy”.

Now, does NOLA “need” these people? Well, in actuality, the political machine there does. Without them the Democrats stand a good chance of losing control of Louisiana and the Democratic machine that has been in power since Huey Long faces destruction.
