Throwing an object at someone, whether it's a pie or a steel pipe, is still an assault. How would a professor react to a student throwing his/her shoe? Or any other object? And how would the school respond? This behavior cannot be tolerated. Student would be disciplined. And your arguments would fall short. It is no stretch but rather simple logic to conclude that those who resort to physical violence because they disagree with someone are more likely to increase the level of attack as they become more disgruntled over their own insignificance. Their intolerance breeds hate. Peaceful protest and "the right to free speech" are always welcome in America. But physical attack, in any form, is not speech.
