Actually, BB, I doubt seriously there will be 12 million new voters. After all, how many illegals voted in Washington in the last election? Or Oregon, who has fraud-by-mail voting along with motor-voter registration (and they don’t require proof of citizenship for a license)? Or any of at least a dozen other states?

I think the claims of so many more “new” voters is greatly exagerated considering how many potential criminal votes may have been cast in the last few elections…

Simple reason why it didn’t go to committee, everyone pushing it knew that once details were revealed the (legal) American people would soundly reject. Their only hope was the Democrat controlled Senate passing it with little debate.

And the biggest reason they even chose this course was because of the White House backing. Reid et al were giddy with excitement over getting 12 million new voters and probably couldn’t believe their good fortune.

When that failed, the Gang of (6) (Bush, McCain, Lott, Graham, Reid, and Kennedy) lost the element of surprise…and (hopefully) lost this battle.

GW is quickly losing his legacy…
