Hollywood Paychecks Bigger Than Ours

Is there any wonder why the overwhelming majority of Hollywood is liberal? They can afford to be.

Reuters reports:

She traded Hollywood for motherhood and did not star in a movie this year, but Julia Roberts still ranks as Hollywood’s highest-paid actress at $20 million a film, according to an annual power list.

The Hollywood Reporter, an entertainment paper on Wednesday published its annual list of the top-earning actresses, putting Nicole Kidman just behind Roberts at No. 2.

Kidman commands an estimated $16 million to $17 million per movie, the Reporter said.

The No. 3 and No. 4 spots were held by Reese Witherspoon, currently starring in Oscar hopeful “Walk the Line,” and Drew Barrymore, both of whom take in $15 million a movie.
. . .

Three actresses, Renee Zellweger, Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz, all had salaries estimated between $10 million and $15 million per film, the No. 5, 6 and 7 positions on the list.

Jodie Foster, who starred in the recent thriller “Flight Plan,” returned to the list for the first time since 2002 at No. 8 with an asking price from $10 million to $12 million.

Charlize Theron made her debut in the No. 9 spot at a flat $10 million, and the No. 10 position belonged to Jennifer Aniston, who was said to make $9 million a movie.

And why is wealth only considered bad when you’re a Republican?

Hollywood, thy name is hypocrisy.

    Hi,

There are thousands of actors in Hollywood. You have probably not heard of most of them. Some are on stages making $25 a night while waiting tables during the day, others are posing for the next Macy’s ad that you’ll be browsing through in the paper. You only hear of the ones that make all the money because well…that’s why they’re stars.

There are tons of well off doctors out there in major metropolitan cities at huge hospitals, but you never hear about the ones in clinics out in rural areas either. Same holds true of lawyers. You hear about the corporate lawyers who deal with contracts and clauses and the salaries that go along with their work, but never the lawyers that work in immigration, labor unions, etc.

Fact is, you only see a very small percentage of Hollywood as owned by the big movie studios. You probably haven’t been to a theater to see a production since you were a student, unless it was recently to support a community friend, and that’s perfectly acceptable.

The bottom line is that most actors and artists are liberals REGARDLESS of their income levels.

Moreover, their levels of income still do not compare with the executives that contract work out to such high-paid actors which have such big name draws to fill up the cinema seats and dvd sales because their names themselves are household names that can be easily talked amongst friends and co-workes or…just blogged about. =)

Liberal Hollywood Dems could end the US debt like that (snaps fingers).

Its’ funny to note that on the Generosity list that came out recently, CA was #31, which is cheap considering the amount of cashflow in that state. Not too charitable.

You’re only seeing the glitz of Hollywood and the wealth of California. Much of California is comprised of immigrants who don’t even speak English. Any other city in the U.S., you got street names like “Washington,” or “Jefferson.” In California, you got, “Palo Alto,” or “La Cienega.” It’s that brown underbelly that keeps us down on the generosity list.
