Gore TV Must Deal with Cable Devil

Newsmax reports: “Al Gore is learning first hand the truth of the old saying “you reap what you sow,” thanks to some actions he took against the cable TV industry while a U.S. senator back in the 1990s.”

According to Fortune magazine, in order to get mass exposure for his new TV venture, Current, Gore needs the cooperation of an industry that lost millions after Gore got a bill passed in 1992 that regulated the rates cable companies could charge their subscribers.

Moreover, Fortune writes that Gore castigated what he called the “big cable monopolies,” compared cable industry executives to the mob, and called Liberty Media’s John Malone the Darth Vader of cable.

These guys have long memories,” one cable industry lawyer told Fortune.

And so do some voters.

Fortune surmises that, in a ironic twist, Gore and co. could try to sell all or part of Current to the evil “cable monopolies” he once fought.

Next thing you know,” writes Fortune’s Marc Gunther, harkening back to the days of the fight to expurgate commercial music, “Tipper [Gore] will be starting a record label.”

Unfortunately, Bill Clinton beat her to the punch.
