Driving While Kennedy

According to published reports, Congressman Patrick Kennedy says he wants to be treated like a black person when and if he gets charged for crashing his car, possibly under the influence, on Capitol Hill.

Kennedy said, “It’s what anyone else would have done to them if they were an African-American in Anacostia. There are probably people who want to throw the book at me a little more to prove that they’re not treating me special.”

Poor baby.

Personally I’m getting tired of people like Cindy Sheehan comparing herself to Rosa Parks, no relation; gay marriage activists or any liberal group comparing their cause to the Civil Rights Movement, and now Patrick Kennedy wanting to be treated like black people when it comes to driving under the influence.

First of all, Kennedy was given a ride home after his accident by Capitol Police and charged with three minor traffic violations. A black person, or anyone for that matter, would have been arrested after declining a field sobriety test. Kennedy wasn’t given one, and some police were reportedly complaining he was getting kid-glove treatment.

Kennedy denies he was drunk despite eyewitness reports that he was seen drinking heavily in a bar that night. Kennedy denies that he asked the Capitol Police for preferential treatment, and said he’s prepared to do “in terms of bookings, in terms of mug shots, fingerprints, whatever they might have me do.”

So more than a month after he checked himself into rehab, it’s still not clear whether Kennedy will be charged for smashing his Ford Mustang into a barrier near the Capitol at 2:45 a.m. on May 4th. He was driving without headlights, nearly collided with a police cruiser, and told officers on the scene he was going to the Capitol so he could vote on a bill.

Now while the D.C. attorney general’s office says they can assure us that if any charges are brought in this case, he will be treated the same as anyone else in similar circumstances, I’m not buying it. If that were the case, he would’ve been busted already.

Kennedy got behind the wheel after taking Ambien, a popular sleeping aid and It says on the directions: “Do not operate heavy machinery under this drug.” That goes for cars and most black people can read.

Now while I understand the Kennedy family has had more than its share of personal tragedy including assassinations and plane crash death, Patrick is a United States Congressman, and with that, receives many perks and privileges.

The fact that he was allowed to walk away from a possible DUI is an insult to many whom are now sitting in jail, as well as the victims of those they may have collided with.

And to use black people, as Democrats love to do to show us all how they feel our pain, is laughable at best, disingenuous at worst. He may have gone into rehab because he felt it was the right thing to do. He may have done so to get public sympathy. Whatever the reason, Patrick Kennedy seems to be in spin mode and for that, deserves to be treated like anyone else.

Be careful what you ask for. You just might get what you want, and you may not like it.

Clinton claims to be the first “Black” president. Gore says he would like to be the second “Black” president and we now have the first “Black” Kennedy. This is special!
This family is a joke, and yet they continue to get reelected. Looks like the Kennedy’s have no shame and the voters in New England has no pride.

Since the entire Democrat Senate nullified Clinton’s felony perjury and flushed the Constitution’s Equal Protection clause, it is as relevant as it was during King Louis’ reign. Like all police departments that are owned by politicians, the Capitol Police exist to protect monarchs like the Kennedy’s.

I wonder how William Jefferson feels about Brother Patrick…

You talk as if only Democrats get special treatment. Truth is, anyone with power and influence will be treated differently from average joes. The Kennedy family is a joke that relies on their wealth and influence to bolster their inadequate talent, ability and most of all, character; then again, I can’t say much for the members of both parties. The scandals that have rocked Capitol Hill regarding bribery, embezzling funds, etc are just the tip of the iceberg. Politicians are out for themselves, and I can’t really blame them for it. It’s human nature to be selfish, and the power they command must be addicting. Only a matter of time before one is corrupted by such an inherently flawed election system (in which one needs money to be elected, and yet is expected to treat everyone equally even though a select few are offering the funds to get you re-elected? Puh-leeeze). If you had the opportunity to line your pockets a little without anyone being the wiser, wouldn’t you take it too? Like I said, human nature. I would guess only the Buddha who has no physical attachments could resist the temptation.
