Another correction for you: global warming is caused by man AND nature. It isn't either/or. Unfortunately, man happens to be the problem this time around. I agree with you that 'they' (meaning 'us') should be spending money to fund alternative sources of energy AND encouraging conservation. Lord knows the oil companies and automanufacturers have no economic incentive to do so. Do I think we should gut climate study funding to do so? No, not really. We do need to work seriously on amelioration though I fear it may be past the turning point and all policy initiatives may be moot.
