What a problem! When a corrupt official like Blagojevich nominates someone, obviously that person should be treated cautiously. It is unfortunate for certain; because Mr. Burris might be a fine choice, or he might be scum…I don’t know which at this point. Nevertheless, if I had the power I would not seat him…heck if I were the nominee I shouldn’t be seated either, due to the likely taint of corruption. How can we trust the choices of an almost certainly criminal governor? We can’t. Obviously by accepting the nomination, Mr. Burris knew the accusations he would face.

But beware fellow conservatives…race should not play a factor whatsoever. Liberals love to play racial politics to divide us and make us hate and distrust our neighbors. We cannot and must not do the same. Yes, he is black. That fact alone makes him no more or less qualified. This is not a repeat of George Wallace at the University of Alabama because race is not the issue. I’d hope that we can one-day progress beyond playing the race card. It is wrong when liberals do it. It is wrong when conservatives do it.

So that is my $.02. Take it how you will.

Democrats are all for appointing, or electing black men and women, as long as they are the politically correct black men and women.

Thurgood Marshall - yes
Clearence Thomas - Oops!
