Culture of Corruption, Democratic Style

If you’re like me, you’re sick of hearing lightweights like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid go on and on about the Republican “culture of corruption.” It’s amazing, though, how they haven’t pledged to get rid of their own “culture of corruption.” The AP’s Gretchen Ehlke reports that a jury in Milwaukee might just take care of that. Here’s today’s details on the trial of 5 Democratic operatives vandalism trial:

Witness testimony, cell phone records and other evidence show that five Democratic campaign workers punctured tires on vehicles Republicans intended to use to get out the vote on Election Day 2004, a prosecutor told jurors in closing arguments Thursday. The son of a congresswoman and the son of a former Milwaukee mayor are among those accused of the vandalism near a Bush-Cheney campaign office.

Milwaukee County District Attorney David Feiss told jurors that testimony from several national campaign workers brought to Milwaukee indicated the defendants acted together to cause the damage and that the workers overheard the defendants talking about the vandalism. “If the defendants had not gone back and bragged to their co-workers, they might have gotten away with it,” Feiss said.

It seems to me that, whether these defendants are convicted or not, it’s obvious that Democrats, on some level, vandalized these ‘Get-out-the-vote’ vans. I suspect, however, that there’ll be enough guilty verdicts to go around when the jury finishes deliberations.

Of course both parties are corrupt. That’s almost a given. The only problem is you fail to see the pervasive abuses of the party closest to your heart in the interest of politics. You’d have more credibility if you equally lambasted the Republicans for their lapses rather than just whinging about the Democrats.
