Cheney Strikes Back

VP Dick CheneyAs you all know, Vice President Dick Cheney jumped all over Senate Democrats last night at the Frontiers of Freedom banquet in Washington, DC.

Here are some of his best shots:

It’s a pleasure to see all of you. I’m sorry we couldn’t be joined by Senators Harry Reid, John Kerry, and Jay Rockefeller. They were unable to attend due to a prior lack of commitment.”

Perfect. These three amigos couldn’t combine to make an ounce of commitment when the going got tough. They’ve proven that with their fair-weather brand of foreign policy/appeasement talk.

The President and I cannot prevent certain politicians from losing their memory, or their backbone, but we’re not going to sit by and let them rewrite history.”

It’s obvious that the entire Democratic Party is attempting to rewrite the history on the Iraq war. It’s equally obvious that Democrats don’t have a spine when the going gets tough. Just this morning, John Murtha, (D-PA), announced that he was offering his own appeasement plan. He was just following the Clintons’ shameless lead that the Iraq war was wrong.

It’s time that conservatives and hawks of all political persuasions denounce the politics being played while our military is fighting in harsh conditions. Honest, substantive disagreements on war policy isn’t what’s being debated. What’s being debated is the fact that Democrats have done a 180 on what they said, then had the gall to say that the President misled America into war. What’s being debated is that Democrats is the dishonest playing of politics with this life-and-death matter.

The Bush administration isn’t saying that substantive disagreements should be shutdown. Quite the opposite. What the Bush administration is saying is that pure partisan politics won’t be tolerated on this life-and-death matter. Big difference.

When President Bush fired the first shot across the Democrats’ proverbial bow, I worried, along with other conservative bloggers, that they wouldn’t sustain the attack. We were clearly justified in our worries based on past history but it’s equally clear that those attacks will be sustained for a very long time.
