I think it was written decently but i dont agree with much of it. I personally come from a rather conservative family but there are many aspects of the party, or at least people like you that i completely disagree with! Where are the credits to all of your FACTS and Quotes? How do we know that you didnt make them up or who is to say that you aren't taking things out of context to form your own "agenda"? Furhtermore, why is there always some big Agenda with you people. Im talking about both hardcore liberals and conservatives! Maybe I am just to young and dont quite understand politics but I think if both sides would quit fighting over uninportant things then maybe we can fix all of the mess that we are in!

...oh and Carlos, I just want to say, If you talk to regular people like that then you are a complete ass

With the state of education being what it is today (see Comment #2 for a great sample of what passes for educated thought today) I'd be surprised if more than 50% (that's one-half, for all you recent college grads) of the attending students understood more than 25% (that's one-quarter, for all you recent college grads) of the speech anyway (without an "s" on the end of it - "anyways" is not a word in the English language).

<i>"The emotive language, personal comments and use of colloquialism reduced the impact of the message...Sorry, I empathize with the message, but Sowell would have put it a lot more dryly and credibly."</i>

Okay. But remember: it's *supposed* to be a college commencement speech, appealing to "youth". We suppose he could've <a target="_blank" href="http://hotair.com/archives/top-picks/2006/05/17/audio-jodie-foster-raps/">rapped it</a> for more impact. ;)

I don't think that was very good. The emotive language, personal comments and use of colloquialism reduced the impact of the message, it's the same kind of lax demagoguery I detest from the likes of Michael Moore.

Sorry, I empathize with the message, but Sowell would have put it a lot more dryly and credibly. Parks should have borrowed Sowell’s style more than his words.
