Biased Media: Judging By The Headlines

AP reports: “Judge Says Saddam’s Morale Collapsing

How touching.

Saddam Hussein’s morale has plummeted as the gravity of the war crimes charges he faces sinks in, according to the judge trying him.

Well, stop the presses.

AP reports: “U.S. Confirms Urine Touched Quran at Gitmo

U.S. military officials say no guard at the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects flushed a detainee’s Quran down the toilet, but they disclosed that a Muslim holy book was splashed with urine. In other newly disclosed incidents, a detainee’s Quran was deliberately kicked and another’s was stepped on.

On March 25, a detainee complained to guards that “urine came through an air vent” and splashed on him and his Quran.”

An evil dictator, responsible for raping, torturing and killing his own people: The state of his morale is newsworthy.

America, the liberator of nations and promoter of democracy and freedom around the world: Did someone step or kick the Quran? A detainee gets “splashed” with a little urine? (In some San Francisco circles, that’s considered sport)

More noteworthy, Yahoo! news headlines appearing on the front page usually rotate, with recent news bumping older headlines out. The US/Quran story, however, has remained on the front page for the last two days or more. Coincidence?

We report. You decide.
