George Galloway: London Had It Coming
In NRO’s The Corner, Cliff May asks: “Won’t it be interesting to see whether those gathered in Scotland to protest the G8 will — or will not — protest the terrorist bombings? ”
Well, it didn’t take the arrogant and conniving MP George Galloway long to offer a lefty spin:
“We argued, as did the security services in this country, that the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq would increase the threat of terrorist attack in Britain. Tragically Londoners have now paid the price of the Government ignoring such warnings.”
You can just feel the gloating. And other far-left liberals are, too.
Of course, the socialist Scotsman Galloway also had this to say about the G8:
“The most violent people on earth are not the demonstrators, not even the anarchists. The most violent criminals in the world today are in the Gleneagles hotel and they’re called the G8,” he said. “They’re responsible for the deaths of millions of people around the world by the system of globalized capitalism, by their war, by their exploitation.”
Think again, George. Today’s terrorist attack might give you the right answer.
UPDATE:
From the DailyKos: “What I hope is that the British stay true to form and don’t get scared and hostile like the Americans. ”
Mark Coffey calls it: “Kossacks: Now Is the Time For Tolerance and Understanding…”

They’ll Like Us When We Win!
Last night I was watching a rerun of the West Wing when I heard words that caught my attention. But as I awoke this morning to the terrorist attacks in London, these same words sounded out like a clarion bell in my mind.

I just submitted a comment at that “Slublog” entry… I agree with the “Update” at Patterico’s post… Now is not the time for either side of the Iraq war issue to be using this for their advantage.
I am greatly involved in conservative politics and activism; I think I’ve commented here before, and I think I’d agree with you guys on most issues. I don’t believe that connecting the Blair government’s foreign policy to these horrific terrorist attacks is a “leftist” position; I suspect that Tories and conservatives - both in the U.K., and elsewhere, will be expressing this type of theory…
But now is not the time for this type of discussion or debate. This type of dialogue, in light of the unspeakable horrors and atrocies that were committed today, is very wrong, and will be hurtful to the victims of these terrorist attacks. George Galloway and others who have used this tragic occasion to criticize their government’s policies are acting irresponsibly and disrespectfully.
Both sides of this contencious debate need to cease their firing (at each other)… Now is the time to show unity with the British - and with our fellow citizens as well… Regardless of our personal viewpoints or geopolitical perspectives.

Hitchens’ Uncommon Sense
Christopher Hitchens, that’s right, Christopher Hitchens displays some uncommon sense in an article from Slate. As a Londoner and a man that isn’t afraid to speak his mind, Hitchens has a unique perspective.
