I’ve been fascinated with this topic ever since reading Gallo’s Egg, but the technical details and web of political and corporate intrigue have me deeply confused.

Tell me if I get this straight: there are a minority of scientists who believe that the symptoms and ultimate deaths from HIV which are often attributed to AIDS is, in fact, caused by the treatments themselves?

And it’s the pharmaceutical companies, ignorant gay advocates, and others who are fighting off this information to keep the money flowing in?

I have no doubt that we are overspending on HIV research relative to the number of deaths it causes at the expense of more dangerous diseases. Every day when I ride the bus or train, I see ads aimed at gay men to participate in drug trials.

If you have a good case, I’d caution against bringing South African politicians into it. Even if they take the intelligent and informed position, it’s not because they are intelligent and informed.

I have to admit, this is a brainful of information. I’ll have to read this four or five times to wrap my head around it.
