BREAKING NEWS: Miers Withdraws
So, now, can we all kiss and make up?
AP reports: “Under withering attack from conservatives, President Bush ended his push to put loyalist Harriet Miers on the Supreme Court Thursday and promised a quick replacement. Democrats accused him of bowing to the “radical right wing of the Republican Party.”
Any opportunity to make a press statement using “radical right wing” and they’re on it.
“The White House said Miers had withdrawn her name because of a bipartisan effort in Congress to gain access to internal documents related to her role as counsel to the president. But politics played a larger role: Bush’s conservative backers had doubts about her ideological purity, and Democrats had little incentive to help the nominee or the embattled GOP president.”
Now that Ms. Miers has withdrawn her nomination, we can unequivocally say that she made the right decision. No more neutrality for us.
John Wilson echoes the sentiment, and asks the six-million-dollar question: “Now what?”
Now, President Bush can pick a nominee that will either make the base and all conservatives happy, or attempt to appeal to Democrats, again. But since they’re still calling us “radical” — and that branding will never change (they have to) — we trust the President will swing for the fences. (Preferably, the one Cindy Sheehan is hanging on)

Last week, I came out of my peyote induced haze to find out a Supreme Court nominee from President Bush might be filibustered by Republicans while supported by Democrats. At the time, I thought that I was just having a bad trip and soon the little mi…

The Final Chapter[?]
I must say that I am not completely dissapointed that she withdrew. Hopefully, President Bush has learned from this and we will see a reflection in his next candidate of what he promised us in the run up to 2008. As your humble pundit has said before…

Supreme Court: Miers Withdraws
