It’s Party Time!
Tuesday marked the 2,000th US military death in the war in Iraq. Cindy Sheehan plans to celebrate by handcuffing herself to the White House gate. 590 events are planned, including in 49 states in the US and around the country, anti-war protesters plan on holding death parties by picketing local VA hospitals with such tactful signs as “2000 KILLED” and “15,000 MAIMED by Precedent of Deception and Congress of Cover Up” and “NOT ANOTHER CHILD, SOLDIER, FAMILY” and “Bring Them Home Now!!!” That should make our veterans feel supported! Did you get your invitation?
The American Friends Service Committee, sponsors of the lovefests which help to complete Michael Moore’s mosaic of death US soldiers in Iraq, boasts this thoughtful slogan:

Hmmm…. why they don’t mind the dollars being spent on the war on poverty, which began on January 8, 1964 when Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed at his State of the Union address:
“This administration today, here and now, declares unconditional war on poverty in America.”
How many billions of dollars have been spent, often wasted, in the war on poverty over the last 40 years? I say liberalism has maimed too many American citizens. I demand a stop to the unjust (and unsuccessful) war on poverty AND I want my money back.
UPDATE:
The usual Wednesday routine consisting of counter protesting downtown (protesting anti-war protesters) was followed by a very special event. Oh, yes, these peace-loving humanitarians, with their “F the President” and “End the occupation” signs, congregated in another part of town to celebrate the 2000th US military death. Yes, these “supporters of the military”, in one of the 590 events planned around the world, decided to hold a pretend vigil at our local VA hospital. Talk about utterly tasteless. Well, after the usual counter protest, we military wives took our signs and hightailed it to the VA hospital to SUPPORT the troops, not celebrate their deaths.
It seemed quite fitting that they stood on the other side of the street, that they were in darkness (no one could read their signs) and that their cute little flames kept blowing out. They were way too jovial to be at a vigil; their frequent laughter was sickening, but then again, this was a celebration. My friend and I stood on the side of the VA hospital, also quite fitting, and as we were leaving, a soldier in a pick up truck approached us on hospital grounds (I wonder why the war protesters didn’t feel comfortable to use the VA parking lot?). He had made a U-turn passed us on the street and came into the complex to tell us how much he appreciated our stance against the war protesters. Mission accomplished.
The anti-war movement (bowel movement, more like) is home to vile and disgusting rhetoric. These people are ill-mannered, rude and vile. “F the President”? “Draft the Bush Daughters”? “Liar”? “Make Levies Not War”? The peaceniks detest soldiers and they dislike America. They use the flag as a prop, never holding one at their gatherings UNLESS they are at an event where there will be cameras/media. They feel a need to justify their patriotism, since it appears to all they have none, that they tote a flag if they protest our military base or VA hospital. They’re a bunch of unintellectual hippies stuck in the 60’s desperately looking for relevancy in which any standard of morality need not apply. The anti-war movement offers them such haven.
On their web site is a disgusting link to a video (by Cranky Bastard Production, how appropriate) exploiting every soldier who has given his life for his country in Iraq. The Iraqis I know are appalled by not only such ingratitude, but by such stupidity. One war protester asked my friend, “Well, how would you feel if America was invaded by Iraq?” She replied, “If our leader was Saddam Hussein, I’d be grateful.” Get a clue, hippies!

Seeing as how the “War on Poverty” is a quagmire, what’s our exit strategy and timetable there?

[...] Numerous conservative blogs have accused both the antiwar and the Peace movement of "celebrating soldiers deaths" during the nationwide candlelight vigils held last Wednesday. For example, the California Convervative said [...]
