Senate Immigration Bill Collapsing

The immigration reform bill cowardly Senators are debating in Washington is collapsing under the weight of partisan bickering. This is a convenient end for the Senators who are more concerned about appearing to deal with the issue than actually doing anything.
Powerful interests want the flow of illegal cheap and exploitable workers into the US to continue. Sactodan Blog March 31, 2006
How convenient for the bill to fail just before adjournment for spring recess which is scheduled for this Friday. Look for the wastrels from Washington to come home and grandstand over their efforts, while blaming the other party for failure. Meanwhile the powerful interests who pull the strings of these meat puppets sit in their overstuffed chairs with sardonic grins on their faces.
Americans should surround the Capitol building and tell the Senators to stay inside until they finish their job!
Part of the bickering is over amendments. One such amendment would require securing the border prior to enacting the ability of illegals to gain legal status, (amnesty) but Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid was against it.
…..Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the Democratic leader, countered that Republicans seemed intent on bogging down the process with countless amendments. “Republicans seem intent on delaying and defeating this compromise,” Mr. Reid said. Source: NY Times
But Hypocritical Harry is representing an opposite opinion of a bill he sponsored in 1993. Rush Limbaugh quotes Drudge who has has dug up info on a 1993 bill Harry was pedaling.
August 5, 1993 — The Office of Sen. Harry Reid issued the following:
In response to increased terrorism and abuse of social programs by aliens, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) today introduced the first and only comprehensive immigration reform bill in Congress.
Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care and other federal benefits. Recent terrorist acts, including the World Trade Center bombing, have underscored the need to keep violent criminals out of the country.
Reid’s bill, the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993, overhauls the nation’s immigration laws and calls for a massive scale-down of immigrants allowed into the country from approximately 800,000 to 300,000. Source: Drudge Report
In addition, the bill called for a significant increase in the number of Border Patrol Agents.
Why does Senator Reid who recognized the threat of illegal immigration way before the 911 attacks, and after many millions more illegals are here reverse his stand?
Why votes of course. If Reid and his cronies can get another 9 million illegal immigrants legal status and eventual citizenship, they believe the Democrats will get their votes.
Once again, Democrats put their own political gain ahead of America’s.

If one Democrat can foil your plans, your plans weren’t much to begin with and your party cohesiveness leaves a lot to be desired.

Naw, Matthew, it wasn’t one donkey, it was most the donkeys and a bunch of jackasses pretending to be Republicans. Not that there’s a whole bunch of difference these days between Washington donkeys and jackasses.
The donkeys can’t get anything done by themselves except stealing more of my money and land (not that I have a bunch of either to begin with, but Reid/Kennedy/Pelosi/Boxer/Schumer/etc. think that what I think is mine is really theirs, they just let me play with it)and the jackass RINOs are getting to there, too.
And just for the record, I, for one, am glad that turkey of an amnesty bill went in the toilet.
